Can anyone tell me the difference between the Painless controllers with part #'s 30140 thru 30143. I know that one of them is used for only one fan, however, I have looked at the specs of the rest of them and I just can't find any real difference between them, or these 65 year old eyes are really going dim on me......... Can anyone give me the differences. I am also going back to my set-up with the 2010 fans which, by the way, have a new part # BL3Z-8C607-A. Don't have a clue what if anything has been changed with them though.

30140 Dual fan controller with 3/8 NPT sensor
30141 Single fan controller with 3/8 NPT sensor
30142 Dual fan controller with metric sensor
30143 Single fan controller with metric sensor

Other than that they are all the same as far as I can tell. Hope that helps. Are you jumping ship on your DC controller?

What to h**l is a metric sensor ??. Yes, I was going to try one of Brians new type of controller, but, I have got an un-easy feeling with them lately, with the site being down for so long..don't know what is going on with him. Also I like the idea of a real coolant temp sensor and I guess I'm in the market to try something new.

I still have the utmost faith in his products and still use them, but just ready for something different for a while

Ok, I liked how DC's would soft start both fans at 50% rather than running 1 fan all the time...
Do the painless controllers do the same thing?? It says soft start, but i can't tell if it soft starts 1 or both fans... Can someone please clearify?

Painless starts both fans at 50%. Theres a low and high temp setting. Lets say you want the fans to come on at 190. You set the low side to 190. Both fans will come on and run at 50% power. However if the temp countinues to rise then the fans will need to run at 100%. This is what the high side is for. You set the high side 5-10 degrees higher or hotter than the low side. Running the ac automatically runs the fans at 100%.

No problem. Better to be clear than to buy something you wish you hadn't.

Just went to a local machine shop...had them drill and tap one of the bungs out to 3/8" NPT ($5.00) plenty of 'meat' left on the bung...no adapters needed.

I picked up the fan assembly a year ago for $180 shipped. Think the cheapest they can be found for now is at Tasca.com. The controller was $205 shipped. Got it from http://www.4wheelparts.com/Towing/Fa...ct&emlprox=out
I googled a discount code which is how I got it for $205 shipped.

I ordered the FAL hose adapter today from summit, and I already have a 37/64 reduced shank bit to drill it out and a 3/8 NPT tap. When it gets here, I'm gonna switch from the heater hose adapter to the upper rad hose. Having the temp sensor in the heater hose, it sees temp too soon and my fans come on too early.
