Electric Fan Install (Pics & Vid)
I think the water flow in the Modular engines has it coming out the engine at the top radiator hose to the radiator, and then back in the bottom. Wouldn't you want your temp sensor in the bottom radiator hose- that way it measures the temperature of the water entering the engine and will give your controller a better idea of how it should be working.
Just finished wiring a mad enterprise controller to the dual 2012 f150 efans I'v installed in my 08 Lariat 5.4 Efan installation was simple just a lil trimming and cutn. (big ups to twinskrewd) Finding a dry and out of site mounting location for the controller had me scratching and drinking until I relized the instructions suggest the perfect location for the controller. Wiring diagram was simple and easy to understand. Very nice controller
Sounds like that's what I should go with...
Where did you mount the controller? Did you go with the standard or heavy duty MAD controller?
The controller should be mounted under the hood for adequate cooling. As per MADFAN installation sheet: "Mount the module in a cool dry location. Such as on the right side on the radiator support in front of the windshield washer fluid reservoir" The controller needs cool dry air flowing over it to stay as cool as possible. The cab provides no air flow over the controller. I have the same controller, fabricated a small bracket to mount the unit behind the R/H light assembly.
To me under the hood is neither cool or dry unless you only drive in the winter on dry roads. If your fan is coming on you are usually not moving fast enough to cool anything under the hood so the engine heat is building when your controllers are doing the most work. They only get any cooling when your are moving fast enough to create airflow through the engine compartment and then the controllers would not be cycling anyway. Where my in cab temp is pretty constant.
I had my first set of controllers (not from MAD) mounted under the hood where the instruction sheet told me to mount them (almost the indentical location) and they got wet and I fried one.
My current controller suggests mounting inside the cab. So far so good.

What do you use for a temp sensor? Where are you getting the reading?
The controller come with a probe type sensor that slide in between the radiator fins and it also has two flat type sensors for the radiator and air condition condenser. I get my reading from the edge programmer which is a very good programmer to have.
1998 F150 with Motocraft (2010)Efan?
I am new at this forum. My first Post. Any one know the exact dimensions of F150 2010 motocraft fan. will this fan works on my F150 1998? I have a v8 4.6. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
. Hi, when I get home this evening I'll measure it and post the measurements. What controller are you planning to use
