Question EZ-Down tailgate issues

Has anyone else installed an EZ-Down on their tailgate and had interference problems with the stock restraining cable? I love my EZ-Down but it apparently has been pinching the tailgate cable to the point where there only a couple of wires left holding it up. I need to find a new cable now. EZ-Down provides a foam rubber wrap for the cable but it doesn't appear to have helped.

Go over to the other F150 site, there is a huge thread on it describing how people worked around that issue. I simply took the cable off. One cable will hold up to 250+ lbs. easy. Had that setup now for about 18 months now.

This is the only F150 site I've been using. What is the other site? Do you have a link to it?

This is my 2nd ez-down, there is a little foam piece that goes onto the cable and a heat shrink holds it in place. This will prevent it from pinching the cable. There is a youtube video that tells you how to install the ez down and it shows the cable protector.

Yeah, that foam piece can move around so you need to keep an eye on it. Love my EZ-down...I think that was the very first mod I got when I brought my truck home.
