I've seen a case dismissed when the man who received the ticket which said estimated, Dropped his pen and said to the officer " How fast was that going " When the officer replied "I dont know" the judge said " dismissed " . I loved it.

 

Never mind... edited. Just not interested in the discussion any more, it got away from the original questions.

Still using my old Valentine 1. 15 years old and still going strong. The new Valentine 1 has much better filtering and false alert suppression but i'll take some extra noise from the old one in lieu of another $500 for a new one when mine works perfectly.

They are legal in California. If you get one that works, it's worth its weight in...tickets.
