E fans and new alternator.

I was wondering do you need a larger alternator if you get e fans? This is what one guy has told me.

you need the 140 amp alternator due to the amp draw on the spal fans which wll be up around 40 amps total"." If you have AC then I would suggest the fan controller and FRH realy"..etc.....

At night my lights dim momentarily when a fan kicks on. I have a stock 110 amp alternator. I'm probably going to install a larger one at some point because I have an amp too. Someone suggested a different pulley that ups the amps at idle. It might be all you need.

When they added e-fans to 2010 MY, they didn't upsize the alternator. Both 2009 and 2010 have the same 150A alternator. I would upgrade if you see situations as Windsor does. To have a long battery life, the shallower the discharge of the battery the better.

What is the price of a 140 amp alternator. I have a set of Troyer fans I purchased last year that I never have installed yet. I want to go with a set of underdrive pullies too but if the alternator is too much than my plans are changing.

That's why you get a controller that "soft" starts them up, so the amp draw isn't as high. Don't think I ever had problems with dim lights when I had my MarkVIII fan (and that beast draws a ton of start up current.) Granted, I had a soft start controller and a slightly larger than OEM battery. I'm pretty sure my OEM alternator is 110 amp, and I also have UD pullies...
