Question Has anyone mounted their fog lights like this yet?

Just mounted my new slim line fog lights (cheap ones from Pep Boys) I was wanting to wait for the bull bar. But money isnt on my side for that yet. So i was trying to figure a spot to mount them and came up this idea. I guess i need to buy another upper bumper peice so i can cut it clean around the lights, but it looks ok for now. I also need to mount them correctly to the main bumper instead of the plastic backing, but like I said, it was a trial fit to see if i was going to like it enough to keep it. Not too bad of a hack job LOL and yeah I know.. I'm crazy for hacking up my bumper without even knowing if i was going to like it or not hahah

I like it, but I don't know if the wife would let me cut on the truck I just bought. I was thinking about installing them in the opening in the lower bumper myself.

No doubt....why not just use the opening in the bumper and avoid cutting? If those are truly fog lights, you'll want them as close to the road as possible....if you're hell bent on cutting, put them on the tow hook location.

hows the aim going to work? Looks like its pretty flush with the bumper and you cant move them much.

i would have waited for $ and got what you wanted.. buying these only removed from your funds to do that.

well honestly, i got them as a temp set because theyre the same size and close to the shape of the high dollar fogs I want. I'm still getting the same bull bar a friend of mine has so i dont want to put them in the tow hook location and we measured it before cutting and doing this. I can keep the fogs with or without his bull bar. as for the adjustability, when I get the good ones and mount them correctly to the metal portion of the bumper then yes theyll be adjustable. I can get the replacement top part of the bumper easily for rather cheap so i wasnt too woried bout cutting it. I didnt want to put them under the bumper cause Id lose them in the pasture or theyd get damaged from the brush too much. and the bumper grille area is being modded for something else so i cant put them there either...

but by the time you factor in your cheap fogs.. and cost of replacing top bumper as you cut it.. wouldn't it been better to not and put that towards the good ones?

quick fix for the time being.. $20 is $20 and the upper plastic bumer cost me $40 so i'm out $60 to decide if I want flush mounted slim lights or the bull bar with #:" hellas that sit higher than these anyways. I alos found a an all black top and bottom bumper from with the tow hooks for $100. So I might change my direction.. I just thought it was a neat placement and looked different since i hadnt seen anyone else do it.

Doesn't seem like a bad idea, but I think there's a reason why you never saw anyone else do it

I'm happy with my $20 set, so if you like them, that's all that really matters.

I like it. Doesn't look bad, and adds some much needed extra light for the big ole truck. Good job.
