Arrowstick / Traffic Advisor

Any of you guys runnin POVs out there have an arrow stick or something similar on the back of your trucks? After a little incident the other day i decided I need to focus some more on the rear visibility of my truck rather than the front. Anyways I'm wondering where you guys have mounted these things. I'm trying to stick to the clean look so I'm thinking back glass but i don't want the tint in the way during the daytime. Any ideas?

most quality sticks will have a high and low setting (the high for day time and the low for night), if your on a vfd, I'd suggest on top of your tool box (if you have one)

or

you can get a firestick/line of fire tail light strip (the one under the tailagate) and add some flashers to that so with toggle switches you can make it flash to one side or the other is out there but it might be your best choice

Install the arrow stick along the top of your rear window, inside the cab. Remove enough of the tint along the top so that your lights are not obstructed.

I thought about removing some tint. I've seen that done on P71s. The only thing is if i remove the arrowstick later then i'll have to redo the tint. i was thinkin about moving the toolbox back some and monting it with some brackets to the back of the bed. and to thhe line of fire idea, I already have some amber TIR3s mounted where the line of fire would be.

Rather than the arrow stick, get 2 Whelen Dual Avengers (replacement to the Talon series) and put them along the top of the back window. They will punch right through the tint, even in the day time.

If you're daring enough to drill into your truck, another great idea is to get a traffic advisor and mount it below the 3rd brake light and above the rear window. A VFD by me has that setup on one of their F350 command vehicles. We also have one mounted to the roof on one of our Tahoes.

If you're thinking about getting the Whelen stick with the TIR3 LED's, DON'T!!! They're nowhere near bright enough let alone through the tint. Whelen makes a LINz6 bar that's plenty bright though.

The pickup trucks our city has in service have headache racks. The lights are always mounted above the headache rack.

I've thought about that too. But then I'll probably end up getting a full lightbar instead haha

Do you really need a full light bar? Are you going to be driving an unmarked, personal vehicle w/ a light bar?

I would still mount it along the top of the window, inside the cab, with a little strip of the tint removed for visibility. I would try to keep my unmarked truck as low key as possible.

Yeah that was the idea. I'll probably just end up with it in the back glass. Should be plenty bright at night which is when i really need it anyways. Thanks for the help.

I'm wanting to do this too. Those Whelen units are way too expensive for me! I might just get another Fire and Ice mounted in my back window and wire it to my LED controller...

A buddy of mine has some STL (SpeedTech Lights) LEDs on his truck and they're pretty high quality and half the price. I'm thinkin that I'm gonna get either their Hex Pro or Signal Pro in amber and put it in the back glass.
