Question Backup Sensor

Greetings All,

I purchased an 01 Scab 4x4 last fall. I have noticed it has a rather large blind spot when backing up. Since I have 2 small children I plan to install a reverse sensor for their safety and to preclude me from accidentally backing into anything. There seem to be quite a few of these systems advertised online. Does anyone have any experience/suggestions/advice about what criteria to look for or a specific brand that has performed well? Thanks.

I would not trust my stock ones for "picking up" kids behind the truck....

It is very good at anoying me when the trailer is behind me......

Thanks for the input. Do you think the system is even worth having?

I purchased a system from Wulongworld.com about 3 years ago for a 2001 Supercrew, it was the best 100.00 that I spent. The Supercrew is long and hard to judge distance from an object. Two problems that I have had is that it displays in metric instead of inches and the wiring was not long enough for the Supercrcew, I had to add onto the sensor wiring. The system is sensitive enough to pick-up our spaniel if she runs behind the truck.
I put the sensors in the black rubber step pad that folds over the rear bumper and was able to hid the sensor wiring under the bumper step pad.
The price has gone up a little but they also have more system choices.
Hope this helps

I have the OEM system and it works perfectly. And I turn mine off when I am trailering so it dosent annoy me at all.

Walmart and pepboys have wireless rear view cameras for $100. They work pretty good and are easy to mount.

Here's an install thread where I put reverse sensors into my 05 SCab. It turned out very good and I rely on them a lot, especially when backing up to a dock. I got my kit (two actually, as I installed for a friend) from Bob at eBay (HK-PLUS).

That said, if I had kids, I think I would go with a camera. These sensors and would catch a tricycle or something outside your vision most of the time. I just wouldn't want to chance it.

We have kids in our neighborhood and I always make a rule of walking behind the truck before I start it. Better safe than sorry.

Hi Guys!

i bought this Parking sensors in april 2008. so far this set is working fine. and the resolution is very good. i have found no fault so far and i hope that i don’t find anywhere......from the reverse sensor reviews above? you can compare which reverse sensor is suitable with you? but actually there are many kinds of reverse sensor out there ! (save your money and get a camera , rear view parking sensors,LED parking sensors, wireless parking sensor )

Good luck!
