Question Sparkplug Wires - Fact or Fiction

I am planning on replacing my sparkplug wires in the near future. So, I've been trying to do some research on what brand/type to buy.

On one hand, I've heard that "low resistance" is the way to go. And on the other hand, I've heard on this message board that Magnecor is a respected brand. Their website (www.magnecor.com) has information that says that "low resistance" is simply a marketing ploy and has nothing to do with the performance and quality of sparkplug wires. To read exactly what they say, go to http:\\www.magnecor.com\magnecor1\truth.htm

Well, now I know Magnecor's "truth". What does the experience of the f150online members tell me?

Thanks,
Jason

depending on how bad you stock wires are , the magnecor's will seems like, good to fantastic, somewhere in that range. a must for someone with headers or high underhood temps. my v-10 wires were about $100 and worth every penny.

Thanks for the web site tip. I read about Magnecor wires for almost an hour. I was thinkg of the MSD 8.5 because of their low resistance claim but now I am more confused that ever.

For those with Magnecor wires: where did you buy and how much? Which set is the best for the 4.6?

the magnecor # for 8.5mm wires that will fit our truck is #85189 and will run you $182.68 from the factory. if you go to http://www.straightline-perf.com
they sell the wires for $164. These wires are great to install as they are very flexible. the red wires look pretty cool too.

Orange County Speed sells the 8.5 for aprox 145$ and the 8mm Magnecores for 114$. The number is here somewhere, Mike Troyer pointed me in their direction. thanks

Question

This is great information...but...

Which is correct -- MSD's claim that low resistance is essential or Magnecor's claim that low resistance has nothing to do with performance?

I just bought the magnecores///$85.00 from speed.
They come with only one mounting clip per plug wire(ele, dist side.) They slip off easily...(--stock wires have 2 mounting clips
Has anyone had this problem....))?

Ford Motorsport has a great set of wires exactly for these trucks. You should check them out. I think they are Ford Blue as well. I don't have the link handy here at home but I will look it up tommorrow and try to post it.
