Honestly, I work at Best Buy and I can say the Escort 8500 is one of the best on the market, about a 2.5 mile range which is huge, but I hear the valentine is pretty popular as well because it tells you where the cop is (front/back/etc.) So, I would recommend an 8500 but I don't know many of the specs on the valentine... sounds cool at least.

I think I'll be getting one of these soon, I like the one with the blue lights.

Is there no detector that can pickup the new lasers that are being transmitted by the cops? I got busted a year ago by one of those new lasers they got out and they got me hard since I had just went into a lower speedzone. A friend told me that they saw on the news where they just got one car equiped with it and plan on having several more equiped with it as well. This is in the Charleston WV area. Seems like everytime I want to accelerate real hard anymore they get me if I am real close to town. This was the first time I got a ticket with the radar/laser detector. It did not go off at all. The cop told me "we will get you every time".

I had a friend put it at the top of my windshield and run it under my headliner and hardwire it in so it doesnt use one of your plugs.

I believe the Bel Rx 65 and the Escort 8500 are the same detector. Both detect all bands of radar including POP and both detect laser. The problem is, with laser, the second your detector picks up the signal, the cop already has you. The only way to defeat laser is with a laser jammer. It detects the laser and sends back a much more powerful beam to confuse the gun. This gives you the time to react and slow down.

Abes of Maine.com is the best price I've found.

$271 including shipping.

With laser, you’re hoping to get a bounce off of a car in front of you to save you’re a$$

Valentine 1 Is the way I went. I like that it tells me if the cop is in front or back or even to the sides of you.

We have an Escort 8500. It workes so well sometimes it will go off for a cop so far ahead that you ignore it thinking it might be a false indication and just about the time you dismiss the alarm and think its not true you will see the cop!
