The real question is: How long will it take for the rods through the radiator to cause a leak? Others have had this happen already. I don't like anything that has to be poked through the radiator.

Is there an aftermarket bolt-on mounting kit for the fans Troyer's kit contains?

These nylon fasteners won't wear on your radiator. I run them on my truck:
