Kenwood KVT-617DVD

I am thinking about this head unit. It looks like it has all the options, with a good display and a decent price.

I cant see any real drawback to it, 7" touch screen, good input and outputs, and everything else I dont know how to work

Here it is

Now I just gotta figure out which speakers to match with it.. Maybe BA, or something. Do I look to match or exceed the RMS ratings?

I have found that head unit for $569.. which seems like a steal. Can anyone think of a better one with more features for less brand new?

Drawbacks to that unit over the KVT-619 is that it doesn't work with the bluetooth phone adapter, doesn't have the USB port and has the older user menu on it. Still a great unit. I love how the monitor folds out, lifts up, then retracts back into the dash.

Installed it into a customer's car here:

I have multiple pictures of your unit HERE if you wanna see it.

No blue tooth adapter?

Thats weird, they offer it for it on the site. I almost bought it. They say it plugs into the "brain' at the Cd changer location....

1. I couldn't get it to work

2. With the brain located in the trunk of my wife's Cadillac the bluetooth needed a longer changer cord in order to even let the microphone reach the dash. But it didn't work anyways.

When I couldn't get the bluetooth to work I contacted my sales guy which in turn contacted the Kenwood tech center and he informed me that the KVT-617DVD does not work with the bluetooth adapter.

It wasn't too big of a deal since my wife didn't have a bluetooth phone yet. She just used the ear mic for the time. We let the radio go with the car and moved into a double din which worked with the bluetooth.

I cant for the life of me figure out a place to put the brain.

I dont see how under the passenger seat works with that plastic air vent there messing it up. No room to reall drill and hold it in place plus it's raised so much off the floor.

Behind the dash offers no mounting point to drill into.

The center console will hold it, but then you would have to drill the **** out of it to get all the wires through.

Behind the rear seat seems to be the only real area to mount. But man, I have heard horror stories about taking that seat out.

ANyone have any better ideas?

BTW my truck is all taken apart with me trying to find a spot. This is kinda annoying.
