AVIC-Z1 Install HELP!!!

I went over to CC today to get the stuff I needed for the install of my AVIC-Z1 and to pick up an IPOD adaptor for it. The installer over there told me that there wasn't a spacific double din kit for my truck and that the dash would have to be CUT to fit the Z1. (he also said he would be happy to do this for 200.00) Does this sound right? I was planning on doing the install myself but I really don't want to have my dash cut. I have an 03 F150 King Ranch.

Also, can someone tell me which wireing harness I need?

Thanks guys!!!!

yes you will need to trim your dash...the 03 does not have a double din...a guy just did the install with excellent pics of the trimming that he did...you need to search and research before you dive into something.

it is not a z1 but is going to help with the trimming that you need to do.

Wow...

thanks for the info.

Do you know if you can put the stock radio back in later or will it not fit properly because of the mods? This is a work truck and I will have to return it to stock when I turn it in.

thanks again

it will go back in, but it will look like crap...that is why you always research before you buy.

my guess you are gonna have a bit of work to do once you need to turn the vehicle back in.

x 2 to what gonefishin10 is saying. I just finished installing a DD unit (Clarion MAX 675VD) into my 02 S-crew. LOTS of cutting and sanding needs to be done to the black plastic stereo mount. Your OE head unit will fit back in, but you'll have to use some bolts to hold it to the black plastic piece that you'll have to cut.

Read that entire link at least twice before you start. E-mail or PM me if you'd like.

You get a King Ranch for a work truck? I need a job like that!!!

Best of luck,
