Blackbird II release??

Anyone got any info on when this thing is coming out? I've got a chance to sell my Brandmotion integrated Nav. unit and I want to go ahead and install the IVA-W205. I would just like to get an idea when the Blackbird II is coming out so I know how long I will be without a navigation unit.

That's cool, I don't run into too many Malones. As for the truck I always loved the flareside, but needed the crew for kids and a longer bed for utility. I saw my truck on the lot and that's what made me pull the trigger. I've only seen 1 other one on the road in the 6 months I've had mine.

Back to the Blackbird, its gonna kill me waiting for this thing to come out.

On a side note, what does everyone think about buying the IVA-w205 from Ebay. I can get one for about $770 shipped but I guess the factory warranty doesn't apply??? Or should I just suck it up and get it from Crutchfield for $899? How long until the street price starts to come down? Thanks for any info.

June is the ship date for the BBT200

If you are doing the install, you need to be thinking about the antenna lead for the HU. Mine is going over the break light on the cab.

RollingRock, are you running the antenna wire through your headliner or under the carpet? Does it have to be outside of the vehicle? Is it an Alpine antenna or will any GPS antenna adapt to the HU?

I haven't fully decided. The new BB comes with 3D mapping and in order for it to work properly you have to have clear line of site to all the sats. That being said, Alpine Tech Support recommends roof placement. I had suggested to the installer to put the antenna on the dash but he isn't sure it will work properly. My fear is having the light leak after installation.

I would be interested in what others have done using the B100...I am sure they are pretty similar.

Hey RollingRock, can't the GPS antenna be installed just like the Sirius antenna except on the opposite side? Of course, that would mean probably pulling down the headliner drilling a hole in the roof, I'm not too keen on that.

Another question for anyone, Can I use my existing Sirius tuner and antenna and hook it up to the W205 or do I need to buy the alpine Sirius tuner? Its funny, when I bought the truck, I didn't see the need in having Sirius, but after 8 months, I can't imagine not having it. Also funny, its been 8 months and they still haven't cut mine off yet from the 6 month trial, ha ha but I bet they'll figure it out soooner or later.

Will the new Blackbird work with the w200? Will you get the 3d mapping? If not, is there an adapter you can get to make it work?

Not sure. It should and I suspect Alpine does have the connector. As for the 3D mapping, the B100 will go to street level but not in 3D. I see it more as a novelty

Just wonderig how does the B200 work, do you need to load your maps into it or does it have them preloaded? I am assuming the B100 would be the same as well. Also how does the B100 intergrate with the head unit now, is there a hook up in the back to plug it in or is it even compatiable?

Alpine has also announced they're releasing a Blackbird II-specific dock to interface the Blackbird II with their A/V head units, so yes, with the new dock it should work with the W200. However you won't get the nifty "stick it inside the head unit" bit.

i forgot to update you on the release. Alpine told me yesterday that they are receiving in June. They then QC them and ship. So when they say June, that usually means June 30th and then they ship. Could be sooner but you never know.

Hey RollingRock, you got any update on the release? I know you had been in contact with Alpine before.
