It's really easy to do provided you can read the adapter plate and harness instructions. All you'll do is plug one side of the harness into the truck, the other half will be connected to the new radio. Use some barrel splices and connect the various wires (left front speaker to the wire labeled left front) together from the other side of the harness. Then when connect the 2 sides together and the wiring is done.
If you have aftermarket amps then there is just a tiny bit more than that.

i didn't think it would be that hard but we'll see

you'll still need a dash kit. On the factory headunit there are tabs on the side used to secure it to the dash. Aftermarket radios will not have those tabs.

You'll have a safety wire that's suppose to be tied into the parking brake light on the dash. Instructions for doing this with my kenwood were very vauge. To override this safety feature I wired mine to the cigarette lighter plug harness. Since you'll have that out anyways you'll easily see 3 wires on the back. One for ground and 1 for power to the heating elements and another for backlighting. I tapped into the backlighting and it let the DVD player work while driving. Also at night I have to turn down the dash lights a bit to make the unit come on at night.
All that safety wire is looking for is a voltage to make the dash parking light illuminate. For some reason feeding it straight 12v won't override the safety feature on my kenwood. I just starting probing different plugs and after much trial and error found that special wire on the cigarette lighter.

I wouldn't expect most stereo shops to wire it up to override the safety wire since this is illegal in most states. It's really pretty easy to do. You could probably install it in about an hour or so.
Once you get your gear together take a look and you'll see it's easy.
Look at this installation video on the crutchfeild site:

As far as I know, Alpine is the only manufacturer that has made it difficult to do the bypass. And there are black boxes and bypass kits for the Alpine. I think most of the other safety features are bypassed with a single wire. I really don't feel good telling anyone how to bypass the safety feature but, if you do enough searching, you can find out how. It is really too easy.
And wiring up the head unit is not difficult at all. We can help you thru that.
