588 is about the cheapest I found it, three places for that price. I got the install pdf and the users manual in PDF. I have not seen any for sale localy. I'm thinking that one or the KD-AVX2. The AVX2 I have the PDF's and have played with one for about half an hour at a Circut city. That one you can get for about 435.
Wish I could see a review on the KW-AVX706, but no luck anywhere. The AVX2 gets great reviews.

Some problems I have seen in adds for these two units. The 706 is NOT touchscreen, but three places list it as such.
The X2 has no SD card but about half the places say it does.

It does have a lot of buttons. Uses a menu system that you navigate with the buttons similar to the AVX2.

The Panasonic CQ-VD6503U is about 100 more than the JVC is also touch screen.

I also looked at the Jenson VM-9020TS, which IS a touch screen. It seems to cost just under the Panasonic, about 70 bucks more than the AVX706.

I agree on the AVX2, it would be nice to see installed.
Someone has one because they did a review on Crutchfields.
I took the surround from a Kenwood into the Circuit City and compared the size to the surround on the AVX2. It would fit like a standard single din head unit but it would have to stick out about a half inch more, so the thick faceplate would not touch the top rim of the dash kit when you opened it.
Another consideration is that it has four angles to view, all of them facing upwards at different rakes. Thing is, the dash already tilts back on the new model F150. So it would already point a little towards the roof, so unless you were about seven feet tall, with your seat all the way forward, the other angles would not be useful.

SSpiro, the only confusion is in some of the ads. You can go right to JVC, or if you like I can e-mail you the PDF sites for the manuals. There is no touch screen function on the AVX706.
Or of course on the little AVX2

The 706 does come with an SD slot, the AVX2 does not, despite the various adds that say it comes with them.

When getting the info from JVC they sent me an e-mail that said the AVX706 did not exist. I replied with a link to their Canadian site that has it on there, and copies of their press release and links to vendors like Crutchfield who were selling the non-existent part...
They then found them and sent me a link to the installation and operation manual.
Again, no touch screen.

I played with the JVC and the Panasonic Yesterday. They have them both at Circuit City so I could use the touch screens. I prefered the Panasonic, if the price was even close.
I did notice that not all the functions are on touchscreen on both those units.
So you still have to use buttons a bit.
Still thinking about getting the JVC but can't make up my mind to go with that or a nice Eclipse CD player.

I had DVD in my truck for the last 18 months, and have never run a DVD... Just some audio DVD's. But I have the backup camera and now that I sold my indash monitor and DVD I really miss the rear view.
Oh well, I will decide sometime this week. My Kenwood is dying.

I have been looking into a lot of these types of units recently. Right now I am torn betwen the Jensen 9021TS and this JVC unit. Beach audio is selling the JVC unit for $541.99 and $5 shipping. They are selling the Jensen 9021TS for $656.99. They look pretty similar except that the Jensen comes with a lot more and JVC rolls you for the accessories.

Ipod adaptor, Jensen - 19.99, JVC - 99.99
TV Antenna, Jensen Included, JVC, $179.95
Satellite radio, Jensen only supports XM, JVC supports XM and Sirrius
Back up camera, Jensen has dedicated input and can automatically switch when you put in reverse, JVC has manual switching from a camera input
Dimming, Jensen has manual dim, JVC has an autodim feature.
They both have SD card slots, but Jensen's is on the front.
Everything else is pretty must the same.

I just don't know.

With that comparison, seems pretty clear to me!

I have been considering the same units, but I need to correct something
yysenhimer said.
The JVC AVX706 does automatic switching to the camera just like the Jenson. Same wire connection to backup lights. I have the PDF's for install and operation. Page 45 tells you it will automatically go into camera mode, full screen, when it detects reverse.
Also, there are multiple dimming ranges on the AVX706 JVC, like on the Panasonic.
The JVC AVX2 does only one level of dim and several people have said it is still too bright.
I have been looking at the AVX2, the AVX706, the VM-9021TS and the Panasonic CQ-VD6503U.
There are lots of pros and cons for each unit. So far I just can’t make up my mind between them.

That's good, none of the literature I saw says it has the auto rear camera switching. They both have SD card slots, but the Jensen supports up to 1G, where the JVC is up to 512M. That may make a difference if you plan to load a bunch of mp3's. Jensen has touch screen, JVC does not. At $115 difference in price though I have to lean toward the JVC unit. I guess I'll sit on it a few more days.

But then to spend $99 on an ipod adaptor...

The TV I'll prolly never use.

While looking through the PDF for the 706 I notice it does both Sat radios, with some other hardware.
