Plus you said you had a sub level control is that on the info/settings screen along with wallpaper and guidetone.
yes, its there, any chance you may have a preout harness laying around??

The Metra connector is part number 70-5521, it is on a national backorder
The AVN 50D does have sub control.

Its an easy fix, just get a low pass filter with an input gain adjustment and that will take care of it. It will also make the factory sub sound better (less boomy) crossed over.
I really hate to sound stupid here but, can you put that in terms I can put to use in my truck? LOL

Mine has thumped since day one... it's an annoyance but, not something that really drives me batty. If this is a simple fix and it's as simple as plugging something in, in-line, I'd be ready to do it in a heartbeat.

Crutchfield customer service had forwarded me an email on how to make a little resistor thingamajig to prevent it from happening but, after looking at it a bit, having a couple of flashbacks to College Physics II where we talked about circuits, crying in the corner because of said flashbacks, and then deciding not to do it because I wasn't comfortable building such a circuit, I allowed it to 'thump' and I haven't worried about it since.

Thanks for any help you can give me... I really appreciate it!!

very very simple don't put much analysis to it.
On your harness coming out of the eclipse there is a blue wire with a white stripe on it. That wire is conected to the blue wire on the metra harness.
Cut those 2 wires apart from each other.
Get a 1.5K ohm resistor (rad shack is fine).
Connect 1 side of the resistor to the blue&white wire from the clipse.
Connect the other side of the resistor to the blue wire from the metra harness.
DONE
For the tech reason for that, the ford amp turns on with a 5volt signal from the radio. The voltage from the eclipse(or any aftermarket) is 12volts. By putting that resistor in line in turns the voltage down to 5 where it needs to be eliminating(mostly) the thump you here.

Gosh... that sounds too easy. To my recollection, my 5435 has two blue/white wires. One of them had a spade connector with it (out of the box) that had a safety boot (plastic) on it. I'm almost certain that I wired mine such that both blue/whites tie to the harness blue/white (so, two from the radio to one on the harness). Should I drop one of them and just tape it off and stick with one with the 1.5 ohm resistor? I assume this is a simple solder? splice connectors?

Thanks man!

YES I typically use the one in the main harness, but either will work both are identical outputs.

YES I usually use butt connectors or crimp caps, it's an interior, non stress connection.
that sounds too easy

AVN 5435 installed here... my steering wheel controls work.

Like NBAF mentioned, you're going to want to get a SWI-ECL device... The -ECL is specifically made for the ECLIPSE units and is exactly what I have.

Third product down on the page...

Sub plug

The harness needed to operate the sub is a Metra 70-5521 entire harness or 70-5522 for just the sub plug.
