Never fear though... I bought this set up and it'll be going in this weekend if all goes as planned...

I just wish I knew more about what's going to be involved with the wiring...

I emailed Fujitsu Ten tech support last Wed. , still no reply, asking if the steering control connector is compatible with Ford controls.

I looked at my 04 F150 CD service manual and there are two wires to the steering wheel controls, input and output. The Eclipse's connector has only two wires......so maybe? I'm assuming the steering wheel controls on the F250 would be the same.
I haven't got around to pulling the dash off to try a connection yet.
In the F250 the WHOLE dash front has to come off to get at the radio...pop all connectors for lights, 4x4, climate...etc. A litttle bit of a pain. Perhaps this weekend.

I talked to PAC-AUDIO (manufac of the SWI-ECL) via email. It appears that the -ECL model of the SWIX *will* work.

I'm not certain which features will be controled though. If it's just volume up and down, I'm not springing for it. If I can toggle sources (like switching from Siriuss to CD to DVD) via the steering wheel, I'll probably go.

As it stands now though, I've ordered the 5435, Sirius set, and wireless remote control.

While I haven't gone out there to figure it out as of yet, how do I go about finding the parking brake ground wire and running it up to the factory HU harness ground? Just a splice connector on each end?

Thanks!

Your thinking backwards RP...
Unless you want to use the p brake for the safety factor... (and I will admit, from experience, be CAREFUL if you don't. Drive smart).... then you don't need to think about the p brake wires.
Just ground the wire from the back of the 5435 that says "parking brake".
I think what Josiah ment was just tie it to the black ground coming from the unit.....or ground it anywhere.
Once again DRIVE SMART. It will let you do things you shouldn't be doing while driving.

Note:
You don't need the reverse wire unless you have the back up camera.
You do need to hook up the speed pulse wire. It is in the factory connector to the radio.

Have fun!

Exactly, ground the parking brake wire to any part of your frame and you'll have no issues viewing the dvd while driving.

RP... here is the answer about the SW controls for F series from Fujitsu-Ten.

Use the PAC SWI-ECL.

SSpiro used the PAC SWI-X, which has an infrared output. More of a generic controler.... I don't know why Crutchfield gave him that one.

The PAC SWI-ECL is for Eclipse units that have the SW control input harness on the back. Which the 5435 has....just hook up the two wires.
You can find them on eBay.

Check out install .pdf here

Thanks guys... I'm clear now. I'll ground the 'Parking Brake' wire that comes off of the HU to the factory harness's ground. Cake. Again, thanks.

On the SWI-ECL...I think I may hold off for now. I've researched it quite a bit... just not sure I'll get the features out of it that I want. Sure, volume up and down is nice but, the way I understand it is that I won't be able to toggle between sources.

BTW, has anyone posted a guide to each wire color in the factory radio harness for a 05' SCREW?

Unfortunately, I don't think the harness that I have has an extra wire/pin that can be utilized.

With that in mind, I'm going to have to tap directly into the factory harness but, I'm not sure which wire is the speed pulse.

Can someone provide a bit of guidance on what color the speed pulse wire is coming in on the factory harness?

I got an answer over in 04-06 -- I understand it's the GREY/BLACK wire.

It was in my 06 F250.

I would send you the connector schematic but my f150 manual CD is acting up and I can't get any of the wiring stuff to load....

Hey Klassic... or anyone else that has the 5435...

When you tilt the screen, does the screen come outward and then tilt or downward and then tilt?

I ask because I'm noticing that this finish kit 'bows' at bottom (it's meant to do it -- platic molding shaped) but, I'm unsure if there's clearance.

THANKS!!!
