Josiah,

I'm with you I want to go out and buy that 8017. I think for the money and looks it just can't be beat. I've had another Kenwood deck that blew people away. Of course it was attached to 1000amps and a 2-W6's , maybe thats what was blowing them away.

must not search and buy with credit card....put it back....don't dial the phone....

Honestly, unless you want 5.1 surround, go with the 7017, that is the only (pretty much) advantage, along with position control, which I want everyone to hear the music the same.

Here's some pics. It is in an 06 F250.
But I did use the 04 F150 dash mounting kit and modified it a little.

Bonus points if you can name the movie playing

Nav screen

DVD

That is sweet. Very very sweet.

Any reported troubles with the steering wheel interface? Any dash modifications required?

Dude, Mr. Hand says that's Spicoli ordering a pizza (before booking Van Halen for his birthday) in the mall talking to that cutie that gets toppless in the pool.

Clean install, makes me wish I went with the more expensive model but the 2454 is fine for now. It's mainly the rear camera not being automatic that bugs me.

I haven't talked to a Eclipse dealer yet to see if there is an adapter harness.
(I bought the unit on ebay) for Ford

The AVN comes with a harness for "compatible vehicle models" steering controls. Ment for vehicles with "voltage detection-type"
....???? Anyone?

I looked everywhere for a double din dash kit for F250... all I could find was single DIN with the pocket underneath. All that was really needed was a trim ring and some 90 degree mounting wings (brackets).
The 04 F150 kit from Metra was the ticket... it comes with more than I needed but it was a lot easier than custom making something.
I just had to McGyver the brackets a little (drill two different holes) and the unit mounts right back in place....tossed the F150 trim plate infront and WHALA!
And used a harness adapter for the wiring... *note* the speed pulse wire is in the radio harness. The harness adapter has one extra wire...pull it out and put it in line with the speed pulse wire in the factory harness.
Then ground out the e-brake wire.... I didn't say that out loud did I... I was just thinking that.

So... I'm lost. Is anyone using the Steering Wheel Control interface? Is it possible?

What's the Final Verdict?

Anyone who has an Eclipse 5435, can you or have you re-grounded it to somewhere other than the parking brake, and does it completely bypass the annoying security feature?
