Michigan???
Almost off road ready? I had my stock FX4 out there and tunercars_2 had his stock Silverado. The only reason I got stuck was because I was stupid and tried the deeper mud with crappy tires (original tires with 39,000 miles on them).
Just make sure you have good tires and you should be fine. I was worried before I went for the first time, it's just fear of the unknown. You'll do fine. It is a lot of fun though. And if tunercars_2 goes, he know how to change a serpentine belt on an F150 in case yours breaks like mine did. lol

anyone that would like to meet up to go to the dream cruise let me know. if someone has a place near by and would like to do a cook out, something cheap like hot dogs and burgers would be cool. whoever wants to come could bring something anyone have any ideas feel free to add them. i can be reached at www.tunercars_2@yahoo.com
Mud gremlins
I think all the mud gremlins have finally worked themselves out. Truck overheated the other day, it was hot, running the ac, so I figured it probably still had mud in the radiator. Sprayed it out after my daughter was napping. Quite a bit of mud came out.....still! Well, it started making a funny rattling noise at idle, was misfiring really bad later that day when I really got on the gas pedal, was also making a weird whistling noise on acceleration. Misfire issue went away when the truck heated up. Probably water near the spark plugs. Rattling noise went away yesterday along with the whistling noise.
Still need a good engine detailing though. lol A few remnents from the mounds still hanging around!

hey Fred when we took the air cleaner apart and mud was on the bottom side of the filter. maybe a Little bit of water got in the intake.
the mud pit Fred and i went to was really low compared to when Jim and i went. but still was deep I'm glad i didn't drive through it when Jim and i went.
I have mud caked on the bottom of my truck still. i was looking at it this morning what I'm going to do is take all four wheels off and sit it on jack stands and spray the bottom real good. I have a small noise in the right front wheel that prompted me to look under it, and see all the caked on mud so a good cleaning will take care of that.
i am also looking at duel exhaust with the stock cats but I'm not sure if i can have duals without voiding the warranty.

For mud removal underneath the truck I use a garden sprinkler. Leave it for a half an hour near the front then move it further back. After an other half an hour move it back some more. After a few hours the bottom is easier to wash off. There are a lot of nooks and crannies that have to be hosed out that the sprinkler cannot get to. My cab is showing signs of its mud running days, it is rusting at the seams.

thats a good idea
my truck is brand new its a 2009 silverado 4x4. when i get all the mud off im going to have the bottom undercoated for this winter:santa: that and im going to try to spray out the frame rails too
Aaron,
Duals won't "void" the warranty. The only problem is that if the duals cause some problem with the truck, the warranty won't cover the work to fix whatever problem the duals caused. That is all. A lot of people have the idea that modifying a vehicle will void the warranty but it isn't true. I've read a lot of posts on the Mustang forums about it.
Speaking of modifying, what brand exhaust are you looking at? I've got an 18" Magnaflow on my list, 3 inch pipes, si/so. Not looking for anything really loud, just a nice little rumble to let people know I've got a 5.4 and not a 4.6.

Could possibly be the mud that is still in the K&N making the noise too. A friend of mine has a cleaning kit for the K&N so a cleaning is in the works this Sunday. The whistling noise came back, has got to be a dirty pulley or something because it does it when I hit the accelerator in park and rev it to about 2k rpm. Weird. I'll try taking the fan shroud off and check the fan, spray the radiator again, make sure the alternator is good and clean since that seemed to take the most beating from the mud.
While I'm at it I should probably just take the air box off and check the throttle body to make sure it is good and clean.

Maybe the plastic piece that gos in the intake that we took off, might not be tight and sucking air causing The whistling noise.

The exhaust i want is True Dual 40 series flow masters. here is a link to the setup i want and man it sounds soooo good

No pictures......forgot to bring my camera. Wish I had gotten a picture of the entire engine covered in mud but I was way to scared to bother with my cell phone.
Somewhere there is a video of me getting stuck in the mud and Aaron pulling me out though. I figured I'd do everyone a favor that had a camera of some sort and let them get their video of someone getting stuck. lol To top it off it was a Chevy pulling a Ford out of the mud pit!
Personally I like all makes and models, not like the dude with the 2wd truck.
Anywho.......gremlins are back, I think all the pulleys need a good thorough cleaning still, my plan is to take off the fan shroud and the plastic thing on top of the radiator and clean everything really good. Noticed a lot of dried mud on top of the valve covers on the passenger side. I think the crank pulley is probably the culprit, either that or the A/C pulley.

400 bucks jeeeeez. tensioner is only 30 bucks and an idler for the whole pulley is only 15 bucks. the idler is 1 bolt the tensioner is 3. i changed my tensioner in 10 mins and put a new bearing in my idler also got a gatorback and my truck doesnt make any noises.
*i take that back on the bolts and what not you have an 06*
