Well guys I couldn't leave well enough alone I started porting my big saw last night (insert Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor grunt here).

I still need a round stone so I can bevel the ports to make sure a ring doesn't catch. I have a muffler and new meteor piston on order, right now I have a forrester muffler that has a very restrictive opening so I wanted to start with a stock muffler that had the square muffler on it to give it more room to breath. I am thinking I will end up modding the muffler as well.

Before:

During:

After but still waiting for a round stone to bevel the ports. I did soak it in muriatic acid to clean up the cylinder.

I still have to clean the alum transfer up on the bottom bellow the exhaust port yet a little more. I don't know why it looks so terrible in this picture it definitely is not that bad in person.

I can't wait to get this thing back together and get it screaming. I have a feeling this is gonna really wake this saw up

I'm no machinist, but porting is essentially cleaning up the intake and exhaust valve openings, right? This won't mean you have to bore it out, will you?

It appears I have my wipers fixed now. I had replaced my multifunction switch twice, changed out my gem module, and changed the wiper motor in an attempt to get rid of the satanic wipers. Nothing worked. Took it to local Ford dealer, and they replaced my multifunction switch with a Ford one, (mine were from NAPA), and it seems to be working. It really sucks that I changed out that stuff for nothing. Switch is going back to NAPA for refund, gem is going back to where I got it for 75% of my money back, but I'll just keep the wiper motor around. :o

Had to get this done, I'm off to the sand dunes of Silver Lake Michigan this coming Thursday!

Porting is not just about cleaning them up, but more about getting the flow to be less restricted. The more fuel and air you can move through the motor the more power you can create. It is going to be one heck of a runner very soon, I have a guy that is going to machine the cylinder head down .047" so I can raise the compression should sit somewhere around 185psi or at least that is what I am hoping for.

Glad you got the wipers figured out definitely want them working for that fun trip you have planned.

Steeda, I saw you pass me on West Dodge this morning.
Well, I'm off for the sand dunes tomorrow. Won't get there til Friday. Stopping in Iowa tomorrow night, hitching up the trailer, getting some sleep before 8 hours of driving Friday. I will have pictures, don't worry!

Hey, What kind of gas mileage are you guys getting with your pickups. I got a 08 Screw with a refurbished engine from Ford. It was put in, in January and has 8k miles on it. I live 10 miles west of 180th. Today, I drove from Yutan - 144th- Yutan- 144th- Yutan and that took over a quarter tank of gas. Also, this last weekend I went to Milford, KS. Its 180 miles and took me 20 gallons of gas. Just wondering if anybody else is having this bad of mileage.
