Show Me Missouri!!!
I suppose it could be considered part of Horseshoe bend. The Gravois arm of the lake pours into the main Osage channel at the 6mm. There is some deep and rough water there. My boat is a 23 footer but actually handles the water pretty good given its size. Certainly I would like something bigger, but this boat fits the needs I have (fishing, skiing, tubing, wakeboarding, and cruising around).
I agree that Lake of the Ozarks is too busy, but it also has a lot to offer. I just keep hoping that more and more people will leave it and go to other lakes. The problem is that you can't put a house right on the water on most of the other big lakes. There does need to be something done about the number and size of boats though. I don't know what, but it just doesn't seem right that boats made for weekend trips on the OCEAN belong on a lake in the middle of the country. Oh well.

I know what you mean. I have a 20' tri hull with a 302 inboard and thinking about buying my buddies 22' Baja with built 327 chevrolet. I dont fish but we like to cruise occasionally, but more tubing, skiing, and I kneeboard. Last summer my engine coupler went out and I replaced it myself. Went down to Larry R Guild access ramp (down by the little niangua arm, in Roach) to put in and try it out. As soon as I got it back together. It was noon Saturday, It worked great I was running along and got to racing a small twin big block 30' scarrab. We were running hard when we met a 90' yacht heading the other way. He was just ideling along but probably set 2 stories below the water line. I mis judged his wake, pushing it to the last minute to beat the scarab and we launched off the yachts wake much fater than I wanted. We probably fell 12' down and when we landed it shattered my seat. Not broke... shattered it!
What town are you in PSS? You may have already mentioned it here but, it's tough to scroll 20 pages. LOL!
I be back down there in March... I have a permanent office space in Viburnum now... not sure if that's lucky or not though. HA!

It's about 30 miles south of Camdenton/Lake of the Ozarks, and about 1/2 way between Rolla and Springfield.
So your going to be a full time resident now?

Now, 2007 may be a different story... That portion of the project may span a couple of years. I plan on hiring someone to be my eyes and ears over there though. UMR has a good engineering/geology department placement thing that I plan on attaching to...
Rocky - I'll see ya at UMR! I'm going there next year
But at the moment I'm thinking it'll be Mechanical, not geological. Have you seen what those petroleum (SP?) engineers make? I think they start at about 94K a year
It's very tempting.
It counts! You're in the "Metro Saint Louis area"

The dinosaurs of petro engineering are the guys sitting in the Shell Oil Company corner offices... not anyone coming out of school.
I plan on plucking out a Geol E or a Geologist for 2007... let me know if you know of anyone that might fit the bill.
PSS -- nothing against Missouri... nothing at all... it's just that the area where we've set up shop there is nothing more than a tiny blip on the map. There's nothing to do or see in the area in all honesty. Plus, being out of your bed for extended periods of time really starts to wear on you in short order. I don't make enough $ for year long stints away...
