Gas mileage

Anybody had a drop in economy and found a fix for it? My Blackwood dropped to 14/15 mpg where it was up around 19 and nothing I've tried has made a dent in it. I'd love to hear some new suggestions.

I was getting really crappy mileage, but turned up to be the gas quality here in Mexico, was using the 93 octanes (supposedly) premium, but the cheaper 89 magna helped a lot...

Went from 8.3 mpg in the city to 12-13 and 12 mpg in highway to 17-18, my truck is now clocking 34,500 kilometers.

Hope you sort it out.

Air filter makes a big difference, assuming you've changed it out recently?

Filters, plugs, O2 sensors (all 4), injectors, coils, cleaned the MAF hot wire... Seems like I tried one or 2 other things...

Tire pressure is another thing, I always run 40 psi in light truck tires

Not running E85, and tire pressure would account for at most 1/2 to 1 mpg. When the truck had 40K miles on it, it regularly got 19 mpg highway and for the last couple of years it hasn't done better than 14. That's a 5 mpg drop and better than 25% decrease.

Spark plug wires, clogged fuel filter, possibly a bad fuel pump?

All replaced recently. Except plug wires, it's COP.

Thanks Ron, good suggestion. Would that cause it to set a code or turn on the check engine light? I have neither.

Try a gallon of Toluene in the gas tank mixed with 4 gallons of gas (ratio); it's a super easy & inexpensive way to clean the whole fuel system, especially including fuel injectors. Why pay the costly dealership price for a fuel system cleaning. This does the exact same thing. Don't spill any on your paint! Can be bought at any paint store. This has worked for me on several occasions, & even gives my cars/truck more pep & better gas mileage if I keep my foot out of it.

This will work, but may I suggest, Marvel Mystery Oil....It has much of the same but it also will lubricate the fuel injectors......
