All time low on the detailing insanity dept.??
Detailed my truck yesterday. It was fiiiilthy. Lot of rain and a lot of wet leaves around here lately.
Anyway, the truck looked so good that after applying Z6, I figured it was a little chilly for the Z16 to dry on the tires. Not wanting to have it sling onto the fenders, I...................used a blow dryer to dry my tires.
Am I the only one? Please tell me I'm not.
BTW..you should see them. They look awesome and the heat of the blow dryer caused the Z16 to adhere and shine like it was sitting in 90 degree sun all day. Definitely doing it everytime now.
See ya'
Dan

I am as much of a freak when it comes to cleaning my truck as you are....It just seems that every time I wash it, it rains the next day....Man that pisses me off...Anyway, finally got the garage cleaned out, so now she goes in there for bedtime....Watch out, we might be getting some snow around here on wednesday....
It just seems that every time I wash it, it rains the next day....
see what it says next to my name in my sig. LoL! We'll be having 3 week droughts here, and if i wash the truck, it'll rain the next day. it never fails!!!
but yeah, that z16 is some great stuff!!! best tire shine out of dozens that i've tried before! Havent used a blow drier before though. LoL.
When i put my new L tails in though, i washed out the taillight housings when i removed the old lights and threw a on a coat of zaino. I've got it bad!
Im the same way also. I sometimes wash the truck twice a week and its garged
yeah I'm pretty bad. BTW where in NJ are you guys located. Im In edison. Maybe we can all meet up sometime and talk L's lol

I know how you guys feel about the washing thing, it always seems to rain the next day. I go to a college and my truck got keyed a few weeks ago (just bought it in december, kinda depressing), I think it might have been because people have seen me cleaning it so hard every time after washing it. So now I go to a church parking lot nearby, kinda depressing if my hunch is true. My friend with a 2000 Silverado is even more **** though, he makes me drive if he washed his truck earlier that day and it rained earlier because he does not wanna splash puddles against it. I'm not that quite ****, but I am sure you guys are, but I do care about the truck and how it looks. Enough dragging on.

I spent about 4 hours over this weekend with my truck up on Rhino ramps cleaning the underside of my L.
I sprayed a citrus degreasor all over the place scrubbed it down real good and hosed it off. What ever was left after that I took a rag and spayed the degreasor on the rag, and wiped offed any remaining grease and oil.
I also took never dull and cleaned the driveshaft, and the two mufflers and tail pipes. I also cleaned and waxed the traction bars, and got rid of all the rubber in the wheel wells, and in all the other nooks and cranies it got into. I tell you there was a lot of rubber and you wouldn't belive where it gets into.
I also cleaned the rims real good, I got all the brake dust off and got rid of the double sided tape left over from old stick on weights. To top it all off I finally took the trailer hitch off.
I know nobody will ever see 3/4 of what I did, but I know it is real clean under the truck.

No, you are definately not alone here. I haven't had as many chances to wash my truck until recently, for they have had mandatory water restricitions up until last week for Virginia.
I am one of the more **** people when it comes to cleaning, but all of my friends know me for having the cleanest cars. The best thing you can do for a good cleaning is to dry with a chamois and then blow it off with a leaf blower or air from a compressor. I personally use the blower off a 6.0hp wet dry vac, but it helps to get water out from behind every crevice. Otherwise, it will spot once you drive down the road.
It really helps to dry your wheels and wheel wells, and it works perfectly at blowing the water out from door jams. You can even blow the windows seals so that you don't streak your windows rolling them down after just cleaning the truck. My neighbors have always looked at me funny when I did it, but now they copy me after seeing how much it helps.

You're from Rahway? I'm next door in Avenel. Have you seen the black '01-'02(?) paper tagged L on St. George? I saw it parked over the weekend. South bound just before or after Hamilton (before Marshalls cleaners heading South). Nice looking truck. I just hope he doesn't have to leave it parked on St. George all the time.
See ya'
Dan
Hey Dan, that black paper tagged L on ST. George was mine.....i was making room in the garage for my baby....Would you believe that I brought the truck 2 months ago and I still have not recieved my plates yet from our LOVELY DMV.....They SUCK!!!!!!
I washed and detailed my truck today. Not the greatest detailing, but hey, The temp was 36* our and the wind chill was 22* brrrrrrr
I think at our college, people respect a clean vehicle and you will find other people with nice vehicles parking around you. One day I parked, then an SS and lifted F150 parked by me. Both were really clean and in perfect condition.

I drove my truck up on jack stands this past summer and spent 5-6 hours cleaning and waxing under the truck, hows that for insanity???
i'm right there with ya on that one don!
every spring i put the HD up on jack stands and get on my creeper and go and clean everything i can under my truck and get it all ready for show season. Sucks not having a garage and having to drive the truck in the winter sometimes
