Apparently you had no clue what was burned for you. That's very unfortunate.

I even wonder if you were told to run higher octane?!?!

Did Jim recommend a cooler plug?

When you dynoed the truck, was it when you pulled the chip or earlier in the 1 year timeframe? If it was earlier, why did you continue running the chip with such an unsafe air/fuel? Did you talk to Jim about these numbers? If so, what was his suggestion?
Gen2-

Guess you must have one of those 6# pullies and a chip that will not give you 400rwhp.....I'd be defensive if my tune was a squid too.

Perhaps you should take all the experience your 25 posts gives you and worry about your own gear.

First, I asked for an aggressive program and I got what I asked for. The only thing I did not know was the code, "J7." Second, we were racing at Ennis. I don't need Jim to tell me to run higher octane when I ask for an aggressive chip re-burn. I have personally heard him tell a number of people without as much knowledge/experience how much race gas to add.

The point of my post is that as an owner of a high performance vehicle that is really being leaned on to make power, you have to take some personally responsibility....or go drive a Honda. Also the point was to show that if you know what the Fluck you are doing you can be aggressive and safe. I dynoed and checked A/F as soon as I got back from Ennis. I talked w/Jim afterwards and agreed that it was pretty lean, but, to say it is unsafe depends on what you're doing and how you are doing it. I no my driving, my truck's motor and my tuner's advice. I told Jim that if I blow it I'll get the new short block that much sooner. He also knows and trusts me enough to give me what I want without fear of me posting "I'm an idiot driver and irresponsible but its JDMs fault."
BTW he did recommend another click of fuel. I said no thanks because I my truck isn't a daily driver, I don't do to many stupid things with it and I was using good fuel and no detonation.

What else; oh yeah the plugs.....I have been driving high performance cars for 25years and Jim understands I don't need to be told about my plugs. Perhaps someday you will have the experience and relationship with your tuner that will allow the same respect and understanding.

In the future do not display your ignorance by making assumptions about other owners please. On the other hand If I have misinterpreted the tone of your questions then I apologize and would be glad to share my knowledge and experience....my guess is your truck would be safe and faster.

Why does it not suprise me that a member with the boardname "trashguy" would support a "trashday."

And we all know that the more posts you have = the more you know = the more right you have to comment on something = the higher you are in the food chain =

I stopped reading somewhere around 6 or 7 pages. Not worth it after that.

Gotta disagree with you there. People wonder why prices get raised

Maybe JDM should be banned as a supporting vendor here because he is selling products that blow motors
Then I guess were going to have to add Sal and JL to that list, as they've had motors blow up with there chips also.

Then why don't we ban most of the people that had their motors blow up! Because they may have put in the wrong gas, or ignored detonation, or just through on mods and didn't pay give proper maintanance or know what to look for.

IMO if you engine blows it is your fault, period. You decided to do the mods. This is a high performance vehicle. You don't throw on mods and then neglect everything else, you don't drive around all the time with the stereo blasting so you can't hear any *strange* noises, you shouldn't throw on mods if you don't know what effect they will have/ are meant to do.

I wouldn't do it myself either...but I'm not his mother.

That is a pretty big statement. It is obvious this cannot be true in all cases.

I had a JL chip along with his 3lb lower pulley and metco upper. The chip was tuned for the street. Last October I accelerated from 90 mph to around 120-140 mph and my engine gave out. I had always listened for "strange sounds" and never had any kind of audible detonation. The truck was maintained perfectly. The mileage was about 15K. My opinion is that the engine shouldn't have blown. I paid for and installed a built short block and life goes on.

Fast forward to a couple of months ago. I tried a 150 shot on a chip programmed for 100. I broke some rings, and scratched the cyliner walls. I paid for another built short block. This time the tuner gave me a deal. Even though it was clearly my fault.

There is no warranty on most parts that any 'tuner' sells. If they want to help you out they will if not then you will pay. It doesn't matter if the chip was programmed for C16 gas and you only run 93. You would have to prove it and that would be difficult.

Very true.

Since I was refering to modded, not stock how about this then:

IMO if your engine blows (and there are engine mods done) it is your fault, period.

That fits in more with what I was trying to say.

Still going i see... . It does amuse me to watch events unfold.
When a thread gets so long and off topic that forum members start asking for shut down, it's proof positive that we hit a new low....LOL.

I guess this ends the speculation concerning the moderator closing threads to quick. This one would have been dead in just about anyones book.

Hey, I know what is going on here. Maybe Doug and Steve decided to let this one go on long enough for everyone to realize how stupid a thread can get .
