TYPHOON??? please dont make me laugh
Sy/Ty
I sold my Syclone to buy my Lightning. Owned the little Sy for 6 fun years and sold it for more than I paid for it. (I bought it used from my neighbor)
Great little terror but I like the L better.

As for the price, you must have gotten an awesome price cause I got that beast for a deal. Any other tid bits you can divulge?
Did you ever ask your neighbor for the owners certificate? I sure would like to get it if hes still got it.
How's the L doing?

I had a neighbor with a stock Ty that I would beat rather easily. However he also had a Sy that was modded to hell that ran 11's at Bandimere. I saved my gas money by not racing the Sy.....
Many of you will be made fools of if you take all of them lightly. A non-modded one is rarer then a modded one.

Heres the reason for all the syty people coming out http://syty.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=19915

Dont discount every Sy/Ty you meet.
The fact of the matter is, even a stock Typhoon is capable of beating a stock Lightning. At the track, my stock Ty ran a best of 13.58 and quite a few 13.6's. That's enough to take quite a few stock Lightnings. Syclones are around 3 tenths quicker than Ty's, due to 300lbs less weight, so you can figure out what to expect from a well driven Syclone.
From partial throttle, my Typhoon actually felt more "muscular" than the Lightning. I was a little disappointed with part throttle acceleration in the Lightning when I first bought it.
On the highway, my Ty was a dog when it was stock. The Lightning easily outruns it in 55mph+ acceleration tests.
The problem is, you're talking about a 10 year old forced induction vehicle. If the current owner doesn't keep on top of tuning, plugs, vacuum leaks and other common forced induction worries, the truck isn't going to run nearly what it should.
I sold my last Typhoon a little over 3 years ago and I still miss it sometimes. It was the most fun/practical vehicle I ever owned. The only complaint that I have about Sy/Ty's is that although they were fun and a cool idea, they were some of the most unreliable POS's that GM ever made. THAT is the only reason I don't still own my Typhoon.
By the way, on the street a properly driven Typhoon will kick most vehicles butts. Launching at 2800 rpms and 12psi of boost with zero tire spin makes for a nasty combo in the type of racing that most commonly happens on the street.

BTW, I am not knocking the Sy/Ty, I like them.
But the main reason the Sy/Tys can achieve this respectable 1/4 mile ET is because the AWD allows them to launch really hard. Look at the MPH in the 1/4 mile and you will see that the L will always come out ahead (stock vs. stock).

I posted this thread over there because there are a couple of locals who post often on that Sy/ty board. As soon as Jimmy gets his truck together again and I get mine together again we will race.
To the other Sy/Ty guys just accept the fact that Diematt wasted a Ty. You need to find this loser and get his truck straightened out before he makes all of you look bad.
