Both ionizing and non-ionizing radiation can cause problems with the reproductive system. So can heat. Low sperm counts have been attributed to the heat from hot tubs and wearing to tight of underwear which keep the "package" a little to close to your own body temp.

BTW -

Those radar guns are known to leak radiation depending on model, maintenance, etc.

mswaim,
I really was serious about shooting blanks. And I have also heard what NeedFourSpeed said about the radiation leakage. Think of it like a microwave.

What peeses me off is when they nail me with a full wattage blast and I'm going 50 mph in a 55 mph area. That's a lazy trooper.

I agree, I don't like to be blasted with them either. On the bright side, at least a detector can pick them up a mile away.

Here the state boys might not even hit you with radar. Just about makes a detector useless.

Personally I can't believe 2 things.
1) they still use radar instead of laser or ladar whatever.
2) they don't even bother telling new troopers of the potential danger of those things.

most of the time those "passive jammers" that you can buy dont even work, but if they did the radar would either register 000 or 40 supposedly depending on the model and brand of jammer, now if a cop sees 000, hes gonna know somethings up and they can still give you a ticket even if they decide to pace you. now if you have the model thatll measure 40 and a cop sees you goin down a highway at 80 ill be willing to bet he can tell the difference

That blows. Figures, they can aim radiation directly at you legally, and you can't even have fun with the signal. Lets no forget that RADAR can make you shoot blanks.

I want one of those things that just shuts down all electronics. How cool would that be?

Just think of how many more lightning parts you could afford if you only shot blanks. Of course what do they say, something like can't live with them, can't live without them....

It is probably a bad idea then. Thanks for the quick reply. I think ill stick with my whistler radar detector. It is a good idea though maybe they will come out with a model that will send out a signal saying you are running 70. That would work pretty good on the interstate.

Some jammers work off of a percentage of speed. Others works off of any fixed speed that you want, others make the speed go crazy internal to the radar gun so that they can't get a lock. That doesn't mean that they know that you have a jammer

Heck, I wasn't kidding either, although I'm sure it seemed that way. I, and many other guys/gals sat for hours with one of those units sitting on our laps with them running. Laser units came around long after I made sergeant, at which time I spent most of my nights guessing the speed of vehicles appoaching the drive-up at Krispy Kremes...................
