But, you just never know who you'll see playing golf. Maybe an L owner.
Not a big RW fan (only F1 & WRC really), but sounds like you were in the right place at the right time.
The wife sounds like a keeper. You diffentely owe her one!

I can see how you dont understand our mindless brand loyalty. For me, its more family heritage, my grandfather drove Fords and his brother drove GM, and it's always been like that. My side of the family all drive Fords and the other drive GM's to this day. It's kind of unfortunate that I have this mild prejudice against all other car brands, but Ford's are in my blood. I've been programmed since birth. I've always have had Ford's and always will. When I see a Ford symbol, I see quailty, pride, and I feel warm and fuzzy

Proud Ford Lover

It will be pretty cool to have Rusty's signature on your truck. Two times a year, NASCAR does run on road courses. If the IRL has their way, those will be the only road races we will see in this country. Sad.

Stormyday,
You lucky dog, I have been a huge RW fan for a long time and would love to have his Lightning. I saw it a while back in his shop and snapped a few pics. I am also a big Ford fan and although I was less than thrilled when hearing that Penske was going to Dodge next year I will still be a RW fan.
Congratulations and enjoy!

Quality??? Where have you been??? Ford ranks barely a step above VW in quality...ie...the bottom of the barrel. I still love the Lightning, but overall quality of the brand, cmon now. Toyota is quality. Toyota - boring but good. Of course, you won't see me driving one...but you gotta respect their overall quality (save for a lil engine gelling issue). It looks like Ford is starting to get their act together finally...quality is starting to go up...so that is a good sign.

Soap - You make a good point. On hangover sundays I tend to just watch all the car shows...like car and driver TV, autoline detroit. etc...

Green_98 - Ahh...that is the exact kind of mentality that makes most of us that hate nascar...hate it.

Actually I gave Mine which had 32000 miles and was great shape and $5250 out the door which included tax and everything else.
Again they let me strip mine down to stock.
The fact that it was Rustys personal truck and that he will be signing it for me is worth a lot to me.
Something cool to tell people when I take it to shows.

I want to ask you guys a question. I was wondering where the best place or places to have him sign it. I was thinking on the passenger airbag or maybe on the armrest, even though it is the fake suede, I think it would still work with a wide marker.
Should I have him sign under the hood also?
All suggestions welcome

Even though I am quite thrilled to have this truck, if anybody know a rich Rusty fan that would make it worth my while, I could reluctently turn loose of it.

Yeehawwww! What a find! Take care of 'her' as you mod it up.

Cornercarver can't 'hep' it. He went to collidge(sic) and forgot his roots .

I am going to put my A.R.E. bed cover, AAD cobra hood and 20 inch repos on it but I was actually thinking of keeping the rest stock just to keep it more original.
If one day I decide to sell it, I can remove the cover and hood and return it to pretty much the way Rusty had it which was completely factory stock accept Chrome Rouch Wheels.
What do you think.

I would recommend under the hood and on the passenger airbag. That is where I had my Saleen signed by Steve Saleen.

I dont think the center console would be a good idea.

I still see quaility.. I am not aware of this barrel you are referring to or the ranks they use. To me, competitor vehicles have that hay rack feeling..

I buy American, another heritage I'm proud of.. Another trait I aquired at birth.

Back to the original post... Stormyday, I suggest the passenger side airbag as well, that's where Carrol Shelby has signed most of his Cobras..

I guess Rusty'll have to get a SRT-10 whenever they come out...

Stormyday, don't do any mods that can't be reversed. You are the caretaker of a piece of Ford history now.
