You'll never fit a W7 in the truck with the depth of them, so If I was you I would do a couple of the new JL 10inch W6 v2's.
I'm going to do 3 of them and see if it hits harder then my 3 ID's ever did.
I would go with either 2 JL W3 10's or Kicker L7's. L7's are a little more expensive and require more power but well worth it. W3's are more pracitcal and have excellent sound quality. I have 2 12W3's in my regular cab.

The sub sits, facing up, in the center, behind the seats. Our armrests would not convert to a jump seat with this box. Otherwise. it consumed almost all of the airspace behind the seats, but we fit it, almost perfectly within JL's specs. That thing is f'ing LOUD, too!!! AND clean!
Sick thing is, I think it sounds better than the 15" Stroker I used to have... And THAT thing sounded NICE.

I'll work on cleaning up my 'blueprint', so I can scan it in for you guys, if anyone is interested. The trunk worked out well for the amps, because he has a bedrug/locking hard tonneau, etc. We hid them in the cabin-side wall, pretty smooth. Cross-flow fans and everything. He had a Phoenix Gold ZX600ti powering the JL.

So, it can be done - you just have to finagle the HECK out of it!!!
Yes it can be done . I was thinking of firing it towards the floor in a box something similiar to this .

One thing you never mentioned is what all you were going to replace. Are you going to be replacing the headunit and door speakers also? If so, then $1500.00 will be hard to get what you want.
If you want to stick with the stock head unit, then I suggest getting a Navone Engineering line level adapter for about $40.00. This will keep your signal pretty clean. For door speakers, I would recommend either Diamond Audio Hex 6.5's (the silk series), OZ 6.5's or the Boston 6.5's. All offer good midbass and very smooth good upper end. For amplifiers, I would recommend JL Audio 300/2 for the front stage and the JL Audio 500/1 for the subs. For subwoofer, I would recommend only going with one 10" or one 12". One sub will definitely give you plenty of sound in a cab of a truck. I've been running only a single sub in my Navigator and it hits pretty hard. My sub recommendation would be an Eclipse Aluminum, Audiomobile EVO-R (only available in a 12") or the JL Audio W6v2 (haven't actually heard one, but they are suppose to sound good). That should put you pretty close to your $1500.00 budget if you shop on ebay for the items. One thing you didn't mention is installation. If you don't do it yourself, then that could eat into your budget quit a bit. You should also allow about $75.00 to $100.00 for accessories such as wire, cables, fuse block, sound deadening material etc.
Once it's done, it should sound awesome though. Good luck in your project

I must argue with Navi on his choice of subs. Although it depends on what type of music you listen to. If you listen to rap, and strictly rap, nothing else ever, then the eclipse aluminum would be a good choice. However, if you like to listen to a mix of anything else, than you will not be satisfied. I purchased one on the reccomendation of someone at Tweeter, and was very dissatisfied. I returned it. The response is very slow, which is fine for rap, but if you like rock, metal, or anything else, it sounds like crap. Just my .02
What all comes down to is personal preference. I don't listen to rap music and have been very satisfied with my Eclipse Aluminum. My Eclipse doesn't exhibit any of the characteristics that NJLightning01 experienced. There are always variables in all setups that can change the sound from one vehicle and one setup to another.
One thing to consider is the enclosure. Maybe NJLightning01's enclosure wasn't properly made and that's why he was dissatisfied with it. I made my decision on many responses from people on Sound Domain, Elite Car Audio and also listening to it myself.
I suggest you visit some of the car audio forums http://www.sounddomain.com/ http://forum.elitecaraudio.com/index.php
and do some searches and ask some questions. You should also try and listen to different set ups in vehicles and find one that will satisfy YOUR needs. We can all make suggestions, but the bottom line is, it's your money and your ears. Good luck.

First off a 10 inch woofer in the back of a navigator is going to sound WAY WAY louder then the same sub and power in the lightning cab.
I know this for a fact, with a lightning and a Grand prix as my test vehicles you can't compare a vehicle with the proper air space needed for the wave to expand.
My grand prix has a single 12 inch woofer in it and it was a tad less DB compared to my 3 10's in my truck.

I just recently installed a system and I am HIGHLY impressed it. The parts are focal Utopias as the fronts replacing the stock speakers. Disconnected the rears. And have one jl w0 10'' sub behind each seat. I only use one amp to power all of them which is a jl 300/4. The stock head unit is still used and everything is very well hidden from site. The subs are pushed in parallel from two bridged channels. The way the amp works and the ohm rating on the speakers (6 for the focals and 8 for the jl w0 -- giving 4 when in parallel) it uses the amp to the fullest and pushes all the speakers at their optimal wattage. I listened to light rock, heavy metal, rap, dave mathews and all of them sounded excellent. The secrete is in tuning the amp and making a special bracket for the component speakers to set the sound stage. All this can be purchased for less than $1250 without trying too hard to search for deals. But I feel the benefit comes in when you spend the extra $400+ to have a reputable pro install everything and make the custom boxes. Most shops will use their best person to do an install in a Lightning.
Reason for choosing 2 jl w0 10'' subs is because the boxe(s) can be small and the bass is tight and works very well at lower power compared to most subs. Ill add this is mostlikely not the best sub to use if you primarily listen to music where you want to reach that extra low HZ at levels that can shake the car next to you. But one thing for sure, these things can easily shake your rear view mirror to a point of none usability without distortion and still complementing the focals very well.
