RAN JR.

its a 6.0 Liter not 6.6. Its 364 cuid. Its not much larger than the Ford 5.4. Less than the difference between a 4.6 and a 5.4.

I'm all for Ford, please don't misunderstand. But would't it be cool if Ford used aluminum heads and bigger cams in the lightning? I believe ford will introduce a DOHC in the 5.4 similar to the Cobra. Think about it, the Cobra is 4.6 (.8 Liters smaller) supercharged with more horsepower than the Lightning. Think about the power potential available by the DOHC.

P.S. Their 5.3 Liter outputs 285 hp vs. the 5.4 Liter Ford outputting 260.

That interior must have been customized by Cooter. It's plain oogly. Chebbie's previous show and concept trucks all had 400+ hp, yet I've yet to see one on the road with near that power. I'll be surprised if you can drive it off the lot for less than 33k.

Yeah and their 5.3 makes 325lb-ft of torque and the 5.4 makes 350. Whats your point. I would rather have the torque because that is what gets you moving. Why do you think the lower pulleys for our trucks make such a big difference. A 4# pulley only makes about 15Hp but 40lb-ft of torque. Is it the 15 or 40 your feeling?

Point taken....so does that mean that they are less efficient in their drivetrain?

LIGHTNINROD...my bad, our trucks do have the black leather inserts. maybe I should have IMATARD for a plate but in my defense, when i think of a leather interior like all these guys are talkin about i think of a Sierra Denali or an Escalade, not the half and half deal on our Ls.

If you look closely at the interior especially the dash and steering wheel you will actually see that it's from a 2002 Silverado. I'm guessing that there would be interior changes made before/if an actual produciton truck was made and this was put together just to try and get it out and get some feedback.

No mention of AWD in the article either. Hmmmmm..... The AWD and 395 HP N/A for about 30K. That would be too sweet to pass up for me. Most people want to customize the interior to hell and back anyway. This way you don't have to pay for what you don't intend to keep.

Holy cow... I didn't even think of the AWD... that would be amazing... I'd seriously consider trading in the Lightning... even though I'd be backwards on payments probably...
I waited forever for the SS, and gave up. Now they bring it...
I do think they're over estimating the market for hot-rod pickups, though... I think every one who wanted one already owns a lightning...

They haven't brought the regular cab yet. Remember, this is a concept vehicle.

Hey f150intally do you know anything about about Fords?
Last time I checked all 5.4's come with alluminum heads. Bigger cams are not exactly the best way to boost power in a heavy vehicle like the Lightning anyways. Sure you could increase the duration and lift but it won't build more torque and make the Lightning as friendly to drive. Trust me I have gone through the whole cam thing building one of my other trucks. I was told get this cam it builds lots of power. And it made alot of HP but not were I needed it. And I could hardly get it to idle and the cam needed more attention than I wanted to give a daily driver.

As for the SS truck back in 99 when the Lightning came out GM came out with a SS concept truck. They were bragging there 6.0L 400HP engine and saying it was better than the L engine cause they were making more HP and it was naturally asperatted. Well there SS got its A$$ handed to it only able to run mid 14s while the L ran about .5 sec's faster. I think GM screwed up another attempt at a performace truck.

No.. I don't know much. I just think it is impressive that they are putting down that kind of horsepower, but I didn't realize that you couldn't supercharge an engine when its compression ratio was 10:1. I'm not a mechanic. Just seems like people start doing work on the internals once they hit a certain point. Based on your signature, you've upgraded internals. What about the DOHC idea?

Forget about an automatic transmission that adds weight while limiting the range of engine performance available to enthusiasts. A 6-speed manual is the only option available and it's directly related to the T-56 setup used in the discontinued Firebird and Camaro pony cars.

Can't believe nobody's mentioned the wheels. Slightly more polished than the '01 - '03 Lightning, but pretty damn close.

um... I was pretty sure that Ford already did use aluminum heads on the 5.4. what difference does aluminum make anyway? does aluminum have better airflow characteristics than iron?

Ford is introducing 3-valve, not DOHC in the 5.4, that work is already done.

Talking AWD

AWD is where the chevy will leave you in the dust on the street. Assuming the HP is simular and the wieght is simular the AWD wins in a stock to stock race. The AWD SS will smoke you if the street/strip conditions arent favorable for a launch. Like was said before they can still be S/Ced. Intercoolers and other mods they be boosting the motors for sure.
