Putting on my S/B throttle body and WOW,when I took off the OEM T/B there was oil everywhere.
I know a lot of guys are putting in filters for this, but how come the breather cap filter does not help more?
Is a little oil normal? Or should it be completely dry.

Looks normal for about any car/truck. You should see the inside of the intake of a SOHC explorer with anywhere over 10k miles on it.

Imagine how much oil has clogged up the fins on your intercooler.

Hey VINNE. New stuff looks sweet! You should give Paul a call over at REM. Get one of his oil seporator kits. It'll solve that problem.

REM - 954 917 9200

Hey Vinnie, if you are using a breather cap, go to a Sears Hardware and pick up a 7/16" ball bearing for a buck or so. Then pull the rubber elbow off the PCV valve, stuff the ball bearing into the elbow, and put it all back together. That will solve 99% of the oil for practically no money.

Sal,
Thanks alot.I am using a breather cap and the oil looks like it is coming up through the pcv valve.I had thought of plugging it up but did not think I could.
Thanks again
VINNIE

As far as cleaning....what I do to all my vehicles is take a can of brake cleaner and spray it into the intake and TB (intake boot removed) and maybe use a toothbrush to do a little scrubbing. Don't use the whole can but spray it in there fairly good. Put it back together and start the truck...it will stumble a bit and you may need to give it gas but it does wonders and can even clean up a rough idle. I have never had a problem doing this on my cars and it seems to work.

Just say no to brake cleaner!

Dont use brake cleaner on anything other than rotors...use throttle body cleaner. Brake cleaner will eat off the coatings of the TB.

Hey Vinnie

What are you planning on doing w/ your stock TB? If you want to sell it, let me know what you want for it. Thanks,

Dave
