Tuner Wars

I must say that all you are impressive. There are some hard core tuner supporters here and will go to any extent even name calling and all sorts of bashing to protect their tuners reputation.

I, if i may, would just like to say that this Lightning forum is boring. I'm tire of everthing breaking out into a damn tuner war. everyone bashing. This is all I see.

I'll tell you guys what, I see where most are coming from, my uncle has a 94' and a 01. His 01 is a full on JDM ride. However he does not post online, he only reads... know one here knows him at all... he does not do tuner bashing. But I see how he is JDM only interested and when I mention to him about LFP's Traction bars that use the Rancho Torque Arms and is a whole $100 cheaper... he gets offended, which is understandable... something along the same quality is cheaper than what he paid. I am a "Best Bang for the Buck" kind of guy so If I see the same thing for a cheaper price you'll know where I'm heading.

I'm gonna tell it like this:

If I had a Lightning, I would make a great effort to have products from EACH tuner because I support ALL tuners that offer performance go fast parts for the Gen1 and Gen2 Lightnings. And I would NOT bash any other tuner for anything, they ALL have great products, similiar prices... and most I think offer the same customer support.

For all of you that don't get top notch, gold platter, i'm spoiled service... DON'T post on here complaining like my damn EX (another story). You have NO idea how hard it is to start a small business and keep up with high demand because they offer a good quality product.

I'm just venting... seeing all these members feeding lines like "lying out there a$$" and stuff really makes me hate this forum.

Man, what the heck. Somebody makes an intelligent post for once around here and the dogs are let out on him. Maybe we NEED to have a non-Lightning owner show us what asses people are being sometimes.

Well....... this part was pretty good anyway.

For all of you that don't get top notch, gold platter, i'm spoiled service... DON'T post on here complaining like my damn EX (another story). You have NO idea how hard it is to start a small business and keep up with high demand because they offer a good quality product.
I see your point here. I've seen some cry baby posts that could have been taken care of with a phone call or a little patience. I've also seen people with the patience of Jobe post, after being lied to for more than a month by a certain tuner's people. Or after finding that the parts they have been waiting a month for, are being sold at an event to people who just walk up with cash in hand. These posters were often treated as though they were being unreasonable, also. I understand that this particular tuner has cleaned house and reorganized. I will probably spend more money there in the future myself.

I must say that all you are impressive. There are some hard core tuner supporters here and will go to any extent even name calling and all sorts of bashing to protect their tuners reputation.
True about some of the members; but, not the majority.

I don't know what you've been reading. The lions share of the posts I see are bash free. There are some problems here; but, Perfection is an ideal to be strived for and hopefully never reached. That would be truly boring to me. Besides who's idea of perfection do we use as a model for "our" site. Hmmmm.

Man, what the heck. Somebody makes an intelligent post for once around here and the dogs are let out on him. Maybe we NEED to have a non-Lightning owner show us what asses people are being sometimes.
Sal,

I think that people get a little tired of being wound up into a big group of a$$holes and handed the "you guys are an embarrassment speach" from yet another non-Lightning owner. This post wasn't nearly as bad as some of the others have been; but, if they have a point to make about this forum, they should make it without insulting us as part of the message. They are more likely to receive a warmer response that way. I agree that this post was not especially rough; but, having followed other posts that were, he has been received with some undue vehemence. Hopefully he'll get over it.

Nothing against you Sal. You are still at the top of my list. I've never had anything but good to say about you and can't forsee that changing.

Roger

I dont think there would be a real tuner war if the price gouging stopped on parts...

Look around, the top 3 tuners arent exactly the top 3 anymore. I give Sal the most props for keeping up with forums and supporting his customers. Johnny also gets some respect in my book.. But i have to say, R.E.M has bumped JDM. Sorry, just calling it as i see it. JDM has thee worst customer service i have ever witnessed and the most outrageous pricing.

Yes, the price gouging has been a serious problem for about 2 years now. These other companies with large buying power come in and sell stuff for dirt cheap, most of the time advertising prices lower than the manufacturer wants them to, claiming they are doing it to "bring good prices to the Lightning community". In the mean time, the small tuners that ARE playing by the rules, have to constantly lower our prices more and more just to be competitive. We don't make tons of money on this stuff to begin with, and every time another vendor price gouges, the small tuners make less and less money. We are not dripping with gold chains and driving around in Ferrarris here. What we make goes right back into the business, and right back into R&D on new products for YOUR trucks! It might be nice to save a few bucks here and there buying from price gouging vendors, but in the end you'll only be hurting yourself. The small hard core vendors are the ones out there every week making/testing cool new stuff . Think about it next time you need to order something .

LightningTuner I agree with you totally. I'm a firm believer in "You get what you pay for." I would personally spend the extra money to get great customer service and a "quality" product and to promote an enthusiast who only helps US out. Large companies always come around and because they have tons of money can sell things at a loss to monopolize the market. Thankfully it seems most of the smaller tuners here have a huge support system from members on this board.

As for the original topic, I'm a Non-Lightning owner (for a short time) and have only been here for a week or so now but in the short time I've been here I've learned so much and have not seen the bashing as mentioned above.

If you want to see bashing then go over to the Corral and post something about Pro M vs. C+L. My opinion here is MOST everyone is an enthusiast and more than willing to share his or her experiences on products they've bought and tested. Some may bash certain parts of companies because they had bad experiences with them and want to warn others of their misfortunes. Sometimes we don't express this in the most professional manner. Again we are only human.

Pete

Pete, the bashing comes and goes in cycles. The board will be mellow for a few weeks, then a bash fest will break out. Actually, it's not even a bash fest. It's more one person will say something somebody else takes offesnse to, and the rest of the board breaks out in chaos. Usually revolves around customers overly defending their tuners. Stick around for a while, you'll see how it comes and goes. This board was really nice a few years back, but now there are so many vendors to "defend" and everyone takes sides. You have to proof-read everything you say, and over-analyze it, because the slightest misplaced word or punctuation can throw the board into a frezy. It's really kind of sad, a bit stressfull. I sure miss the good old days when I was the only Lightning vendor around, and we were all mostly a big happy family that discussed the TRUCKS not the politics.
