I don't want to step on anyones toes here, but just FYI, that converter is not the same unit being sold by other vendors for close to a grand. That is the single disc lockup converter (we can get that too) and is not recommended (by PI) for the Gen 2 trucks. You can call PI and ask them, I talked to them this week about this "cheaper" converter I kept hearing about, and that's what they said. Just don't want to see anyone try to save a few bucks and have a part that's going to fail.

Sal, in the end, as I told my kids, "If it was worth $1,000, they
would CHARGE $1,000" --- You get what you pay for most
of the time ...

There were a bunch of "old compound" F1's that were REALLY
cheap ... Til you got them ....

Sal , SVT-KY

I checked and it is a 3 disc clutch converter! But the price on the site has changed. I have been told the converter is on order and have asked for a callback to confirm that this is what I thought I was getting! The price listed when I printed out my order said 689.00 now the site has them for 849.00 no change in product description. Lets see what happens.
I feel this co. is on the level and not out to shaft any of us. I have bought parts from all vendors and have not had a bad exp. yet.

Sal,
Are there any markings on the converter cases letting you know what one you have been sent? If I recieve the single disc I can post negative remarks as fast as I post good ones.
Thanks in advance, your advice is always welcome on my screen.

Jim

Hmmmm...cheaper converter and a part that will fail????? I have that single disc in my truck....12K miles of driving/towing/racing and have had no problems.

When I started ordering them from PI, Vicki never said "We don't recommend the single disc for the gen 2 trucks." Are you sure your information is correct Sal???

In fact, I was told that the unit I have been purchasing is the very same one that the other "tuners" were also buying. Knowing the cost on the multi-disc, your price-point seems awfully low....unless your margins are tailored as such.

I would also argue the need for a multi-disc in our trucks....doesn't seem to be a necessity, unless one ran a lot of boost and a shot of gas....or just a lot of boost. A lot of boost in this discussion would be 14+ on a stock Eaton, or the big numbers cranked out by the KB unit. So that would eliminate 85 percent of the Lightning population from "needing" a multi-disc.

Well, I know what both the single disc and mulit disc PI converters cost, since I sell them. People think we make hundreds off them, when in reality, it's hardly anything. You can call Jack at PI if you like and ask about the multi vs single disc for the Gen 2. He told me on Wed that they don't suggest the single disc for the Gen 2s. I've personally had evey single disc lockup converter I've ever used fail in both my Gen 1 and Gen 2s. I've had about 7 different converters in my trucks, from every make. The PI multi disc is the only one that's not failed yet, and I have it in both my trucks.

As for your chip comment, I'm not really sure what you're talking about there.

As previously stated, I'm not trying to bash anyone here, just pointing out that people are not getting the same part for the cheaper price.

Ordered a PI 2600 from LFP for the same price--$689

SURE DO hope that its a 3 plate converter like Mark says it is, and not a single plate.

Mark assured me, a few times, that for my $689 I'm getting a 'brand new' Precision Industries 3-plate lock-up converter for my Gen2.

After reading this thread, you can be sure that I will research this issue further.

If anyone else is unsure if they recieved a single plate when they should have got a 3plate, you can call Precision Industries at (901)466-0267.
All you need is the numbers that are stamped on the mounting plate of the converter and PI can tell you what you have.

Or what they sold you at least, but you still won't know what you have till you take it apart.

Do you think that Precision Industries would actually cover for Lightning Force??? I dont think so, but......you never know.
That would be a big liabilty on PI's part if they did.

The number is stamped from Precision on the converter when it is made. Should be easy for PI to tell you what one of their distributors sold you.

I think maybe an autopsy is in order...Just remember Jason you can't lose. I think next time you should blindfold yourself when pulling the trans.. I'll bet you still get it out.

firefighter106,thank you for your enthusiastic support.I enjoyed speaking with you and I'm glad you have confidence in me.

Let me offer you some correct information that will dispell any concern you may have about the PI torque converter that you ordered from me.It is a multi-plate Precision Industries converter for the Gen 2 Lightning. It is brand new,in the box, direct from factory part. The price that I quoted you is correct and true.I guarantee you delivery of it,as I promised. If you do not get what you expected, please return it for a full refund.I will even pay return shipping.

I understand that you may have concerns after getting incorrect information. This seems to be a common problem on the internet. Please be aware that I am the sole owner and only employee of Blue Oval Performance.I have no consultants to my business.I make all decisions.Anyone other than me, that offers advice on my pricing or business practices is presuming to advise you about something that they couldnt possibly know.I am the only person that is authorized to consult customers of Blue Oval Performance about my business practices and pricing.

Jimmy,I hope this clears the air for you about one of the parts that you ordered and who is authorized to quote you prices and specs on the parts that I offer. From one business owner to another,I appreciate your support and look forward to speaking to you again.

Mark

Hey either way whichever Mark is sending you the converter they are Str8 up in my book. It seems like some other people are maybe confused about such things as pricing and the number of plates per dollar that you ACTUALLY can buy. Hopefully it's not malicious. Bottom line is that you must have faith/trust in who you are spending your hard earned $$$ with. These/this guys/guy have been flawless for me..
