Question longtubes on a daily driver

I'm considering long tubes and high flow cats as my next mod. I would like to hear from others. Is at worth the money? how is the noise factor? Do they stay tight well?

i wouldn't get them unless you are heavy on the mods. i've heard of many people that had no gains with longtubes, and some that have. oh well, i know they sound good though !

They fit great.
They sound great.

As for power, some people say they gained nothing, others have dynoed nothing, and some have gained. As for me, I have no dyno's but my last 1/4 run I ran stronger, quicker and faster then another L with different mods:

Mine - 2lb lower, filter, chip, LT w/ cats and single magnaflow
His - 6lb lower, filter, chip, e-fan w/ pump

Have some mods and mine is a daily driver (46,000 miles) with over 10,000 on the complete system... long tube headers, cats, mufflers and exhaust with tips from JDM. Still tight with no leaks and sounds fine. Been on a few 600 mile trips and no drone.. just a nice rumble at 75mph.

Thumbs up

I love my L/T's. I have them and the highflow cats bolted up to my Bassani Cat-Back. The sounbd is just plain sick. I thought the Cat-Back was loud alone but with the L/T's its 10 times louder. As for power i know that you lose a 1# of boost from the lose of back pressure but my upper pulley and 4# lower take care of that. All in all i would get them and are a worth while mod.

Vin-

Don't ever consider that 1psi less a 'loss' in power. No way! That's just plain and simple efficiency in action! Boost psi is just a number. Your engine is still getting all of the airflow from the blower that it was getting before the LT's, but now it is flowing through the engine better!

I know what you are saying. I never felt like i lost anything even from when i put on my cat-back system. I know how everyone says that you lose power with exhuast's on our trucks but i never felt any losses. As for the truck breathing alot better from the L/T's i can tell that right away. When i was at JDM's getting my L/T's installed and they were taking off my stock manifolds the manifolds were still hot and thats with the truck sitting off for over an hour. Just goes to show you how our blocks retain the heat. Now with my L/T's on when ever i come home and pull her into the garage it is much more hotter in there because the engine can breath much better now. And instead of the block retaining that heat its letting it out.

LOUD

The longtubes are LOUD. You will see HP improvement from zero (stock L) to 25hp with a big pulley...

I dyno-gained 29hp/30ftlbs with my long tubes AND exhaust upgrade on my mostly stock L. (I have a PSP air filter).

*shrug*

Believe what you will.

Personally, I got them because I just wanted a better exhaust system sound, and why go the short way... went all out, got one of the best you can, and I love it.

Daniel

PS
The only person that ever complained about it was my ex-gf. She stated it was "obnoxious" at wide open throttle.
