Flushed cooling system- now much faster??
I just had my cooling system flushed and refilled.
I can't quite figure out why, but now the truck is much much faster.
I think there might have been some sludge buildup somewhere in the system, maybee to do with the new built motor I had installed this spring.
All I know is after I left the radiator shop, it now feels like a different truck. The temp and the air conditions were the same before and after I left the shop.
I just can't belive, or figure out why just servicing the cooling system can make such a differance. If amyone has any ideas I would love to hear them.
Needless to say I am one happy camper.

I think I will tie the front suspension up, and restrick the front springs from pushing the tires down. Maybee that will let me lift the tires off the ground. It would be a cool picture.
I was just joking with you Don, but if you want a better explaination, I don't have one. I'd think that maybe you are transferring the heat out of the motor better, but that would result in lower temps, and you said the temps are the same.
That must have been a lot of break in metal to be that much quicker. I was hoping you would have had a better explination.
The only two things I can think of are
1- maybee there was some sludge buildup in a critical area, say near a temp sensor.
2- maybee a coolant passage was blocked up somewhere in the engine. Now that it is freed up maybee it is running cooler.
According to my scan tool the coolant temps seem to be the same.
After Labor day I will be at the track again and the track times will tell me if it is real or just in my mind.
PS Sal just to let you know I was monitering my intake temps the other day and your fresh air system is working awesome. As soon as I start moving you can see the intake temps really drop. Thought you would like to know.

Sal's Fast air is Awesome. When he installed it on my truck and we were on a test and tune run by his house we were monitering air temp going into the engine. Sitting on the side of the road waiting for traffic to clear the temp was 90 going into the engine. Then when traffic cleared and we started moving doing a WOT blast the temp dropped an amazing 30 degrees to 60 degrees
. Then when we got back to Sal's house after all those WOT blast the intake was still cool to the touch
.
Oh yeah i was the first one to get the FASTAir on their truck

Here's one for you, Don -
Maybe the water pump impeller was sludged up a bit, therefore requiring more turning force to spin it at the same RPM. Does it feel like more power than turning off the A/C?

Ya it feels like much more power than turning off the AC.
By the way I had the AC on the whole time.
