I think he's asking why one is safer than the other. All the available loops for the Lightning meet NHRA specs, so I don't see why one is safer than the other. All are made from the same material. The Metco is a one piece round loop, and the PSP uses stainless steel hardware (stronger than the metal itself) to attach the two pieces together. Both styles will catch the driveshaft. The PSP and JL style will also stop your gas tank and exhaust from falling out (hey, you never know). That sounds pretty safe to me

Hey Jack, just give Jim @ JDM a call, 732-780-0770 and he can give you all the details on the benefits of a Metco loop versus the other loops that are available, he probably has them in stock, hope this helped, John H.

I have had the PSP & JLP loop pon my truck. The PSP worked great on saving my truck when my shaft broke. The PSP is the same style as the JLP but is alittle easier to install. Why is it easier than the JLP? Is has less bolts to install!!

The Metco style makes you have to drill your truck. If you have to take it back for service, well hey that is proff of a mod. Its a safety mod yes, but "ANY" mod can void a warrenty.

I just got a new PSP powdercoated wrinkle finish loop when I went to ATCO. VERY NICE looking!!

Just a silly question, but doesnt the metco bolt through the floorboard? I have heard that's how they install.

I had one like that (not a metco) bolted through the floor and when the trans broke ripped the driveshaft, loop, and part of the floor out of the car and then poll vaulted it at @ 110mph...NOT GOOD!

The NHRA rule book says that it must be bolted to the frame or a frame member.

stuff...

They can't (legally) void your warranty for a drive shaft loop.

The metco does go through the floorboard, but I wouldn't worry about it. It's pretty heavy duty where it goes through...

1pc or 2pc?

Like the man said, (Sal) they all comply with NHRA requirements. Depends on two things,
1. how much time/level of difficulty for installation you want to deal with

2. How deep are your pockets? Safety has no limit so buy the most expensive. Gold plating is available.

I plan on a JL or PSP. My wife always says I'm not worth a ***** anyway, I'll accept just meeting requlations. Me? I would probably fall getting out of the truck at the end of a race and land on my forehead on the only rock around, crack my skull even with a helmet on.

And your point is? Is there a reason WHY you have gone through different loops? You said Metco was safer. So i have simply asked you, WHY is it safer? A DS Loop is to be bolted to the frame, PERIOD!

I drove a 9 Second Mustang with more safety equip then you could ever fathom, have you?

Driveshaft Loop

Flying Macho, call Jim @ JDM, he has also driven 9 second vehicles and can give you a detailed description of the benefits of a Metco loop versus the other units that are available, can you fathom that?

Well, I did break a non aluminum d/s in a 340 turning high 11s low 12s, and that 2 pc did a fine job. It was a cheap ol' Lakewood, BTW.

Thumbs up Metco

Don and Silver 2000, thanks for posting those Pics, I didn't have any of mine, but they clearly show that the Metco loop contains the driveshaft in a smaller area in the evevt of a failure. Plus it surrounds the front portion of the driveshaft which will help keep the vehicle from doing a pole vault better than the other loops that surround the driveshaft further back. Pictures are worth a thousand words, thanks again for posting them guys, John H.
