Since I'm about the only person in Michigan actually driving the posted limits, I get a chance every 20 seconds or so to observe people and what/where they are looking as they pass me. And believe it or not 4 out of 5 of them look at the "lightning" on the front fender when they come into my view.

I can usually tell the "enthusiast" because they are checking out the wheels/brakes and never look at the "flashy" stuff.

It's kinda neat when a car full of teenage boys roll by and ALL heads turn looking out the back window too. Boy does that bring back memories!

Putting the lightning badge on a non-lightning is posing. Just like the ricers that put Type-R badges on their cars. I even saw someone with Type-R badges on a late 90's Olds.
Posers suck.

Ground effects and wheels are one thing, the badges themselves are another story. Making your ride look better is one thing. saying it's something that it really isn't just ain't cool. It seems to be the norm to take a regular Mustang and make a Cobra clone nowadays. Can the L's be far behind? One of the Ford magazines is building a Mustang GT using Cobra R gfx and spoilers. I was OK with that until they stuck the Cobra badges on. Then it went from neat car to poser, just like that.

You guys need to worry less about that sort of crap and deal with real issues. I agree the badging my be taking it a little to far, but I wouldn't sweat it. If a guy wants to make his a phoney lightning, so be it. You know you have the real thing and that's all that matters. I've seen many F150 trucks going the custom route and using the frontend of a Navi, and some that have even used the badging. To me it looks pretty cool, but it doesn't matter to me. In fact I think it's kind of flattering that others think the Navi frontend is cool enough to put on some other vehicle.

Cool No sweat here,

just stating my opinion, FWIW. A Navi front end on an F150 is customizing. A stick on badge isn't. I was in Ga a few months ago and saw a F150 with a Mercedes front end. Not realy my cup of tea, but pretty neat...

I can't believe this thread. "I have a real Lightning but I don't want you to put a Lightning badge on your vehicle." How pathetic. Once again the Lightning owners are more worried about what's going down the street, than what's in their own driveways.

Thanks for your contribution. At least "you" know how to mind your own business and only worry about what applies to you. I'm sure that the rest of the low lifes on this forum could learn some very valuable life lessons from one such as yourself.

Last year, people were asking me what a Lightning was. Now more people ask me if it is a "real" Lightning or not. It's true that people can do whatever they want with their own vehicle. I cannot and would not tell them that they can't. I will make fun of it if I think it is stupid or pathetic.

Your post makes you sound like a jealous hater. I'm sure that this couldn't possibly be true, since this would be a poor character trait. I'm sure you just misworded it because you are obviously so much better than everyone else and couldn't be corrupted by the "Green Eyed Monster".

Why are you stooping to calling people names. Grow up and let's use this forum for what it is intended for, not slamming other people and what they do to their vehicles. The original post has no business on this forum and all it does is lead to bad feelings among people. Rather than ridicule and put people down, let's use this forum to help each other and share ideas.

And no, I don't suffer from the "green eyed monster". I'm quite content with my vehicles, and I admire those that have nicer stuff than me.

Nope, didn't misword a thing. The high and mighty f150online Lightning owners are constantly being critical of such things as Lightning badges on a non Lightning vehicle, to what kind of gas someone puts in their vehicle, to whatever they don't like or agree with. Maybe that's why I don't have a Lightning. Jealous? Nope. My brother's got a Lightning and if I was gonna be jealous of anyone it would be him. If I wanted one I can afford one. The dealer down the road has a bunch sitting right out front so I don't think they're all that special when I can go pick one up off the lot.

Navi Man,

Sarcasm is not name calling. Though when you are on the receiving end of it it is just as ugly. The post was not initially aimed at you. While you don't get the difference between posing and customizing, you didn't go so far as to call us ridiculous.

Explain to me why some of you non-Lightning drivers cruise the Lightning forums looking for opportunities to ridicule Lightning owners. If not jealousy then what? I'd like to know. I doubt that the Lightning owners are cruising the other areas looking for opportunities to call you guys ridiculous, children, or worse. Is this happening?

I agree, it is only a truck. Well, maybe not "just" a truck. I doubt that many of the L guys think they're better than the other truck owners on this board. I don't. I just happen to have bought the L for it's performance aspects. I doubt that the same could be said for the non-L owners. That means we come at F-150 ownership from different directions and share very little in common except the platform for our vehicles. If you don't like what goes on here in the Lightning section, why come over here nosing around if not to cause trouble? Now that is childish.

Most of the guys that post here, that don't own a Lightning, are perfectly alright and even seem to get where the Lightning and Lightning owners fit into the Ford family. Others spend entirely to much time and effort worrying about why we are not conforming to "their" idea of how we "should" be. It's not healthy to worry about things you can't do anything about. Get over it.

Such as maybe a Lightning badge on a non Lightning vehicle, perhaps. Have a nice day. Lightnings ARE cool.

Nice shot..........But, if you'll read my posts specifically, I doubt you'll get the impression that I'm losing sleep over the Lightning badge issue. As far as the Non-Lightning owners with chips on their shoulders when it comes to Lightning owners, there's not much chance of changing that either. I'm just letting you guys know that people can see what you're doing and it's not pretty. No sleep lost on that one either. I just happen to have a little extra spare time today.

Yes Lightnings are cool.......... So are Lightning owners. You just have to make allowances for different perspectives and personalities. It's really not hard. We Lightning owners get along very well together and we are a "very" diverse group with, in many cases, only the vehicle we drive in common.

Odins Wrath,

Posing or customizing? It really doesn't matter. Who cares? Obviously you do. My point was that this forum is for sharing ideas and helping each other out. Not picking out some guy on the street and then making fun of him because some of you feel it shouldn't be allowed. What's this have to do with anything other than putting something or someone down? Tell me how this belongs in this forum?

As for why I search in this forum, it definitely isn't jealousy. Last time I looked, a Navigator still goes for more money than a Lightning. I like to search all the various areas of the forum just to see what other peoples ideas are. I hope you're not telling me this area is forbidden to just Lightning owners. We are all part of the Ford family and no one group is more special or any better than the other. I didn't come on here to cause trouble. I just checked in and voiced my opinion as to what is really childish, putting people down for their customizing ideas. It's not like this person posted a picture of his vehicle and asked for anybody's opinion or was bragging about it. It may not be your cup of tea and it may not be mine, but attacking individuals isn't appropriate. Things like "posing", as you call it, should be ignored. It's the individuals problem, not yours or anybody elses. Purchasing a Lightning doesn't give you the license to decide what others can and can't do with the name, just as purchasing a Navigator doesn't allow me to decide what people do with Navigator badgings. I don't agree with putting fake badges on a vehicle, but I definitely don't see anything wrong with using the bumper cover, trim pieces, Lightning wheels or anything else to give a stock f150 a custom look. If a person chooses to also include the badging, I choose to ignore it rather than putting it down. You should try it also.

You have made your point and I have made mine. Let's just work to keep this forum for what it is designed for, discussing Ford trucks and helping each other out.

You are correct, sir. I "have" made my point. If you read my posts a few more times, you might actually get it. Maybe not. In either event........... I'm done. No point in arguing for the sake of arguing.

One final thing. A couple of very simple examples of words.

Buying a $5.00 T-shirt and tie-dyeing it...... CUSTOMIZING

Buying a $5.00 T-shirt and having OLD NAVY printed across the front...... POSING

Is this a cosmic no-no that will unravel the fabric of our society? No. Is this guy gonna catch heat if he gets found out? What do you think?
