Anybody using Metco "above spring" traction bars?

I like the bolt-on ease of these bars and their ability to be used with lowered trucks and big exhaust tips. Anybody have any experience with them?

Thanks,
Edward

Metco above spring bars.

Hi Ed. Yes, I have a set of these bars on my 01 L.
Installed them last year and must say that I am very happy with them. The only thing I did not like was that during the installation you have to do most of the tightening by hand. There is limited clearance to get an impact in the mounting area, even on a lift.
Over all though, I believe you would be very happy with them.
I am.

Thanks for the response, Marc. Do these bars need to be adjusted for track and street use; or is more of a set and forget affair? Also are these bars noisey or quiet?

Thanks again,
Edward

I have mine set at a minimum pre-load, and leave them there.
As for noise, I have not heard any in the 7000 miles I have used them. I chose them because they do not hang below the axle, I also use a pinion snubber in conjunction with them ( not essential), and the bars are a quality piece.
When I launch at the track my truck does not "squat", but remains level, which is a reaction that I want.

Metco Traction Bars.

Very nice stuff. On lowered trucks I recommand going with the lower bars NOT the uppers. More than likely you will have a clearance problem with the bar bottoming out on the bed.

My buddy just installed the lowers on a stock height truck (with stock exhaust) and had a hell of a time fitting the bars in. He had to rebend the exhaust pipes for the to even go on.........and the still are rubbing a bit.

Rob,

My truck is only lowered 2" with shackles. Do you think this would present a problem? I know that your truck appears to be much lower than mine.

Thanks,
Edward

Rob G, I know that you have quite the show truck - is it lowered at all? I'm assuming that you have the Metco uppers on there...

I have 2" shackles.

Ed, I also have 2" drop shackles on my "01 and the uppers fit perfectly. Just a little time comsuming as I originally stated.
I also had to modify the rear fender brace, but its no biggy.
Go for it.

My truck is lowered a little.

That's why I had to use the lower Metco bars.

Edward,

To be on the safe side get the lower arms, remember that when you lower a truck you are moving suspension parts up. Even with only a 2" drop in the back you can most likely get away using the upper bars but If it were my truck I'd get the lowers.

AH, ok - didn't realize you used the lowers. Think I missed that

Rob, your truck looks spectacular, as always. What suspension do you have on that thing? (sorry, I'm sure you've posted the info a billion times...)

Rob,

Which exhaust are you running? I'm going with Bassani and I worry about clearance issues.

Thanks,
Edward

BlkBanshee,

Feel free to e-mail me. The parts list is a bit long, a lot of mixing and matching basically.

Edward,

I have a Bassani cat-back on my truck and right now I have minimal clearance between the bracket and the exhaust but it works and there's no interferance.

However, I'll be making a pair of hanger brackets this weekend for further spacing and a little more sturdiness. I'm finding out the hard way that mixing a lot of different aftermarket parts sometimes I have to do a little backyard engineering to make stuff work. Oh well.

I must have missed it somewhere, but where can you get/order Metco Traction Bars.

Just the setup I am looking for. Don't want any stuff hanging down underneath.

Thanks in advance for any link or info.
