R/t Vs Lightning
What a DAMN DEAD horse!!!
Do you really think this hasn't been beaten to death?
Jeez.... Do a search...
Also... go to FordvsChevy.com.... LOTS of info there on this comparison.
Apples to Oranges!!!
Don't forget to add about 200 hours worth of labor in there for that stuff.... More hours if you do it yourself.
I've owned both... I'll take the 30K L with FULL warranty over the labored over 25K RT with a questionable warranty any day.
Repairs on the RT after all that tuning will be a bitch too...

about $2000.00...truck cost $23000.00 bout 4300lbs weight.

pcm, cold air intake, TB, m1 2bbl intake,
headers/exhaust, rockers
..maybe 14 hours for a newb to do all that.
so more as you go from there so what, after you do a few light mods you start liking and looking forward to the next one.
what repairs is that?

Quoting Dr. D==>Not an RT but a dodge. Things are not always what they seem.

....Huh? he posts at a site that requires an RT VIN to even get in.
btw..i didnt post here to compare trucks...just passing on
what I've learned.
later.

Complete sentences (or something somewhat resembling one) help to get your point across.
Surprisingly, stringing random words together in no particular order is a rather ineffective form of communication.

And who's gonna adjust/tune for the rockers?
Besides... we were talking getting that RT to compete with an L... so now you need to add the supercharger. And don't forget an intercooler. That's the only way you'll get the RT on the L's competition level.
Now where's your estimate?

You cannot compare these two trucks. One's the fastest production truck on the road. The dakota has 250hp stock. Stock for stock theres no match. One is $32 grand and the other is $22 grand. The srt ram will sell in very low numbers just like the viper. There will be a ram r/t with with the new hemi motor that will directly fight our L's.

Uh huh!!! Yeah right! I've done a little wrench turning of my own. Headers and exhaust are NOT going to be THAT easy. Not to mention the tools that most NEWBIES don't own. Tool gathering/borrowing buying... welding? Yeah right!
****Headers are a bitch..i put in 6 hours for it..once installed you drive with open pipes to muffler shop and have pipes put on...you call them first and give them a heads up...air ratchet makes it easier...have a Y ready or have one fabbed there.
And who's gonna adjust/tune for the rockers?
****Me..I hear hard part is removing valve covers.
I could buy the new non adjustable rockers...nah.

***Yeah intercooler! Or $2000 in bolts ons and $1000 in nos setup....or 2.02 heads and cam and good tuning with SC.
Now where's your estimate?
****Got me there...couple days for the SC, mostly fiddling with fuel system....couple hard days doing heads etc...but the results nowdays=12's. Throw in more time for intangibles...sounds like fun to me. I could screw it up somehow...and have to take it apart again...that's why i want to prelearn everything i possibly can before I do anything like that.

Yup! and trust me... I assign a value to MY time. Whether I enjoy the work or not. I value MY time at least as much as your run of the mill mechanic. Most of the time I value my time at the rate I bill per hour when I work professionally... which is more than than your run of the mill mechanic. Get some self-respect and add that value to your estimate. I also GUARANTEE that the FIRST failure you have to your mods, or the first failure you have DUE to your mods, you WON'T enjoy the wrench turning.
****I took off my white collar and went on my own...
.failures only equal lesson learned.
It's FUN working on the truck.

Repairs due to the driveline failures and such you'll have from adding that much more horsepower to a previously non-supercharged vehicle.
****like what? scratch bent rods from the list.
I'll help you out...if you go with a SC on an RT..getting up above 6lbs you really need felpro headgaskets..stockers tend to blow.
But I think the new Paxton SC alleviates the need a notch, we'll see.
