The Dodge r/t is the most over rated "sport truck" on the road. A quad cab 2wd 4.7 dakota is faster than the r/t. The 360 has a dead spot at 3500 rpm's and up. The power falls off dramatically from there on. Nice truck. Absolutely crap motor.

Obviously stock for stock the L will win, and I know a couple guys that own R/Ts that run 11s almost 10s, obviously alota mods, and yeah if you put 2k into a L in mods and 2k into a R/T in mods the L will win, but you still have that 10k difference in price. I paid 20k for my R/T and with total of less than 5k, I have clears, its lowered, new tires, and mods and i'm runnin about 13.6 without a blower, maybe it depends on the truck, cuz my buddys 1999 rc R/T had just intake and a computer and he ran a 14.1, that was with slicks, but still, 14.1 with out a blower and less the 500 dollars in mods..One more thing, the girls around here and where ever I go looove my R/T

I went to the strip this past tuesday to run. Got to the track too late and decided to wait for another time. The weather was excellent for my first pass too. Temp was 67 deg and low humidity. Too bad. I'll try again next tuesday. How are you doing in the humidity?

The RT: Based on 2.5 years forum whoring.

sealevel avg temp ok hook...
Club Cab Rt's run about a 15.3 stock avg.
add bolt ons..pcm, cold air intake, TB, m1 2bbl intake,
headers/exhaust, rockers..very low 14's...some 13.9's.
about $2000.00...truck cost $23000.00 bout 4300lbs weight.

add 150 shot NOS to that and slicks see high mid 12's.
$1000 or so. 360 seems to like NOS.

no nos with heads, cam, maybe 8lbs boost and good tuning
along with above bolt ons varied a little and get 12's...some on the edge of 11's.

A stock RT with 6lb boost runs high 13's low 14's.
an RT with the bolt ons mentioned and 6lbs boost low/mid 13's.

some do better/worse the above is just a kinda average.

Aftermarket development for the RT was slow and limited.
Tuning is still a problem...but there is a ton of RT owners
doing nothing but modding and experimenting day in and out.
some just say screw it and go with a stroker.

RT's have great low end torque stock,,nothing up top.
Put a m1 2bbl intake on and increase top end by 50 hp/40 tq with the other bolt ons.(approx) with little loss on the bottom end.

I'll prob just go with the bolt ons and a cheap ol powerdyne#6 and live with 13's.

00CCBlack
mopar pcm
mopar cai
Flowmetric 50mmTB
Mopar M12bbl intake
Dynomax Turbo muff on stock pipe
180 stat

upcoming:
Headers/3.5" single exhaust
SC.

Cool

HI!... Last year I went to ST. THOMAS DRAGWAY in LONDON ONT. There was a older guy there from a R/T group that had a "2001" DAKOTA R/T, EC, AUTO. His mods were :

- 125 SHOT NX
- RAM AIR KIT
- MSD IGNITION
- NO A/C
- NO P/S
- HEADERS
- EXHAUST
- MOPAR PERFORMANCE PCM

I ran this guy like 3 times and beat him every time and I was totally burning the tires off through 1ST gear. This guy could'nt get any better than a 14.68E.T out of this thing with the NOS!!!!!!!lol! He was hooking up pretty good too. He came over to my truck in the pitts and when he found out I was N/A he got so pissed he packed up and left in the middle of racing!LOL!

bizarre...sounds like a prob with the nos system.

ie..14.68 should be about what he would run without the NOS with those mods. He's got the exhaust but still choked with the stock cold air intake and TB.

...they don't make a mopar pcm for the 2001, must have been some other chip.

You all remember this right??

Not an RT but a dodge. Things are not always what they seem. Could you imagine some of the faces this guy sees after handing people their buts.
