Lighting the tires....
That the best part about the trucks is being able to smoke them any time, my 95' f-150 with a stock 302 can leave two 60 ft patchs down and that is barly 200hp, maybe you should drop it in 1st gear and try it, just make sure you dont over rev, could lead to disaster
So is it possible to smoke the tires on a NA 5.4L ??? When you apply the brake doesn't it stop the rear wheels from spinning - I understand power-braking....but some of you guys are saying to keep the brake down a bit as the wheels spin. Any help is appreciated.

the ABS will pulse the brakes if wheel lock up is detected (the wheels stop turning, indicating a skid), it will not release the brakes if the wheels are spinning. maybe you are thinking of traction control which Lightnings don't have and still doesn't work the way you described.

Hell I could be wrong...If someone in a Lightning stands on the brakes and smoke starts rolling off the rear tires maybe it's from the rear brakes ......I would imagine the ABS sensors may proportion the pressure towards the front...I don`t know this for a fact..The Lightnings have a 3 sensor ABS so I'm guessing here..2 on the front and 1 on the rear...Also if the front tires are stationary and the rears are spinning maddly..ABS ain't kicking in. I agree driving down the road and stomping the brake pedal will get the pulses you mention. They are to allow steering control while the car is in a forward motion..Yes the Lightning has 4 wheel ABS and not traction control.... The anti-lock brake system is engaged only under potentially dangerous conditions and engages when it detects impending wheel lock. ABS is not engaged under normal braking conditions and it will not impair normal braking actions.
