DOnt beat on SVT, I know they sent many of you questioneers about what you would all like to see in a next Gen Lightnings.
Like many others I have a 1st gen that I would not part with for anything, and I believe SVT is trying there best to put out a truck that many people would eventually feel the same way about.
I still follow the progress on these trucks though and read many of your posts, Remember, if was not for SVT where would you be?
Saleen or Steeda? Customizing your reg F150?
well FORD has taken an interest in the performance truck market and we should be greatful. We have all read the pending regulations that FORD and GM face with fuel mileage woes.
I think they have done very well with the 2nd Gen Lightnings over all.
I know many people would like to see the following;
1) redesigned seating.
2) alot of little "Lightning ONLY interior & Exterior items"
3) Nice set of Rims and tires
4) Lower production numbers (but will probably push up costs)
5) and of course; Engine upgrade or improvements.

Hopefully everyone will give SVT input if they can, but remember they sell this as a truck, they made big strides increasing the payload, while maintaining the ride.
As you do, I look forward to a next Gen Lightning, with reworked front only, I like the stepside bed, but with Fords TRUCK concept, they may try to improve bed cargo space in the next truck by elimination the Stepside.
I am guessing they will take a year and a half break between the 2003 Lightning and next Lightning offered.

<<"As for the SVT Lightning's interior, it moves upscale with some welcome enhancements. New features for 2003 are interior door handles finished in brushed aluminum, a steering wheel with perforated leather and unique air bag cover, and thicker interior carpeting for improved feel and wear resistance. A final addition of convenience to the interior includes a standard 6-disc in-dash AM/FM stereo with improved equalization. ">>

A steering wheel with perforated leather...if it's anything like the FR500 wheel you can get for the Mustangs...this will be my next mod!

Overall, I like it. IMO, the new wheels are much improved over the 01/02's, I have never cared for them. I can't wait to see sonic blue on the Lightning............

Lightbulb Someone should start a wheel preference POLL!

Seem's there are mixed feelings and likes about the the'99-'00 vs '01-'02 wheels...I like the '01 best, but in three weeks or so, I'll be in love with the Boyd Coddington Smoothy 2's that will be on my truck
