Question those that have pulley combos that equal more than 6 lbs of boost

im just curious to know how many stock blocks are out there with this much boost (being over a 6 lb pulley). how much boost are yall running on your stock motors, and how many miles have you put on them with these pulleys.

I ran a 6lb lower and 1.5lb upper on a stock block in my 01 and a 5lb lower and 1.5lb upper for a long time in my stock block 99.

You need to listen for pinging, get a really conservative chip, and run good gas.

Cool

I run the 6# lower from JL, a true 2# upper from Sean Hyland. With this combination, the autometer pod mounted boost guage reads 16 psig! You need to run a quality fuel and a chip tuned for this combination. Some people feel that you are stressing the blower with this combination and make no more power that if you used the 6# lower pulley alone ( the heads will not flow the extra air, so the blower is just beating against a wall of air that is not being pushed throught the cylinder). I agree that you make no more top end horsepower with this combination, but you do make more low to mid RPM TORQUE! (because at any RPM the blower is making more boost) This is what I like about this combination. When the second gear shift comes... wave bye bye!!

Ive been running the JL 4# lower and metco 1.5 upper for over a year now. No issues at all.........other than bald tires and a high gas bill! Like was said before, you MUST listen for detonation and use the highest octain gas you can find. When the temps. drop to 60 or below, mine wants to start detonating really bad, so I started adding a gallon of Toluene to a 1/2 tank of Texaco 93 Supreme and it stops it. If you run this much boost, chances are it will detonate in cooler weather, so be careful! You will not notice detonation while casually driving around town, if its gonna do it, try easing into the throttle around 70 on the hwy and you'll hear it if its there.

i have been running the 6 lb for goin on 10,000 miles no issues yet but i was just wandering bout some of u guys running all that boost on stock motors (being more than 6 lbs). are u 2 guys having any problems and how many miles do u have on 7.5 and 8 lb pulleys? one more thing i assume that you dont baby your trucks is it a fair assumption that if you run that much boost it has survived the hell torture test?

Sounds like you chip needs to have the timing tables scaled back a bit for the cooler temps.
