I'm not saying that Ford will do it.
I'm just pointing out that someone (Chet) has put on twin superchargers and Ford could copy it. It's not BS, just reality. There's a difference.

Two blowers, eh? I guess that means I'd have to buy two belts, two pulleys, two MAFs, two ... etc. Does this mean we'll have to worry about two intercooler cores leaking, or two blowers flaking teflon?

Would those blowers need to be synched, like multiple TBs/carbs on bikes?

Chet's blowers are in series, not parallel.

new ford stuff

the new tranny is a reallity. Don't forget about the aluminum blocks either. There is going to be two new engine designs in the next ten years from ford. One scheduled for 2005, the other for around 2008. With fords financial troubles, maybe things have changed but I know the tranny and new castings were definete plans of ford for the 5.4, along with the 3v heads.

Its been a while since I posted on this board, but i'd like to throw in what I know about it. To put things in a nut shell, we built a "Super Lightning" up in my shop. The "blueprints" of this beast were purchased by Ford for posible use of the technology in the Gen 3 L. I am not permitted to say exactly what was done to it, but it did include a Turbo Charged 32V engine. That doesn't nessicarily mean that Ford is going to use that exact set up, but whatever they use will be kick ***. They obviously are not going make it with quite as much power as our pig put out, but expect it to be a monster. I don't know exactly what Ford plans to do at this time, but don't expect a Twin Supercharged engine. Ford means business against the new Dodge and Chevy contenders. It may be a year or 2 before we see it, but trust me on this one!

I sure hope so. You know Ford will try to out do the Viper truck to get the title of world's fastest production pickup back. This means sub 5 sec. 0-60 times and 12's in the 1/4. I can't wait!!!! That's why I'm going to start saving for a Gen.3!

my understanding

wouldn't ford want to stick with the blower rather than going with a turbo system. After all, it's the lower end boost that gets these mosters moving out of the hole.....and that' s where a heavy vehicle needs the most power?????????

Very true, I really doubt we will see a turbo svt anything. There is no way ford will change from the s/c to a t/c. Especially with the new found power they are getting out of the Cobra. They won't have a s/c cobra and a t/c L, it makes no sense.

So with 3v heads, and the usual computer upgrades, maybe a bit more boost, 415 +or- hp. 470 +or- on the torque, same gearing, maybe get rid of top speed limiter, and or increase it a bit , That would make a nice early 04 Lightning,....... also Isn't the 04's supposed to be all new or, a very big make over? F-150's that is? Also didn't Ford put in an all new block for the 5.4 in the new Expeditions? 03's I think they are anticipating more power naturally asp. and supercharged in the near future,,,

Something like this?

This guy can fab up some ****! http://www.toohighpsi.com

Roger : "The L has a Twin-Rotor supercharger now! ... or something. "

I don't think so. The twin screw is made by Autorotor and is a lot better than the Eatons. I think some have been trasplanted onto L's

LOL Trust me the L has a twin rotor supercharger, with only one it wouln't make any boost!
from the Magnacharger website:

The Magna Charger/Eaton supercharger is a hybrid-roots blower pump, with substantial design improvements. The rotors have a unique involute lobe shape and are engineered to a specific L/D ratio. Each rotor has been twisted 60 degrees to form a helix. The two counter rotating rotors have three lobes, which intermesh during operation. These twisted rotors, along with specially designed inlet and outlet port geometry, seal timing, and axial air flow help to reduce pressure variations resulting in a smooth discharge of air and a low level of noise during operation. This arrangement significantly improves efficiency over traditional roots superchargers and reaches a volumetric efficiency near 98%. Magna Charger applications have an adiabatic efficiency that stays above the 50% mark over the full operating range of the engine, from 2000 to 6000 rpm.

The Eaton/MagnaCharger uses a "High-Helix" design for the rotors, unlike the old 6-71/4-71 and B&M superchargers which used straight rotors. The Autorotor screw type design is more expensive to produce and really shines at high boost levels. Kenne Bell has a kit for the lightning, basically just an adapter plate and supercharger for $3000.00.

Hope this clears it up.

Thanks for the link to the Junk Yard Drag Radial Ride. I love back yard butchery!
