It may be true. Theres a chance that Ford may want a truck to compete with the imaginary Dodge truck, in terms of $$$$$$$ that is. I can just see it now, a market of $50K++ trucks

2005 L

Twin superchargers - are they crazy? I can see the advantage to twin turbos, but if AA Fuel cars can deal with one supercharger, I'm sure the 2005 L can also. There is no advantage to twin S/C, only disadvantages. No way on that. Who writes that stuff?

As far as HP / TQ numbers, I think bfb is close. They might tune it closer to 450 HP and a little more that 500 TQ to keep the Ram Viper at bay. My prediction is a 5.4L bottom end with three-valve heads. This will keep all the BIG torque and provide a little more top end HP. They could go with a detonation sensor system to get a little more agressive on the timing and boost. With the 8.5 compression ratio, they should be able to run close to 15 psi boost on 93 octane fuel, if they have a detonation sensor to pull out timing on hot days or with bad fuel.

I also predict they will bring in the new 5-speed automatic tranny slated for the new 6 liter diesel motor. It's good for over 500 TQ. This would help if they geared it right.

Along with the bigger HP / TQ, an upgrade to the rear suspension would be a logical step forward. I don't think IRS is a good idea based on the Cobra drag racing experience, but something like the Buick GNX ladder bar setup would work pretty good.

So much for the crystal ball. We'll see what happens.

It may be in the mag but Ford will not have a twin supercharged v8 in the 05L. Everyone here ooonvolved with this thread knows this. It will be a 3valve sohc sc 5.4. If Ford wants to compete with the new SRT Dodge Ram (which will never be better than the lightning anyways) there will be a hefty price tag. Ford is having huge problems with the 03' cobra and if ford (4 letter word) with the L it will screw it up. There is so much potential with the current motor they would be stupid to screw with it. The 3valve motor is the next gen motor.

The L has a Twin-Rotor supercharger now! ... or something.

Two superchargers would be used on a large displacement motor when a larger supercharger is not available. If they supercharged the V10 motor with Eaton 112 superchargers then 2 of them may be used for development while they wait for Eaton to design and manufacture a larger supercharger. This way engine development could start before the larger displacement Eaton is available.

A 2005 L with V10 and a big A** Eaton supercharger would be nice! Eat that Dodge boys

So is Ford going to skip a year with L in 2004? I don't see how they could, these things are way more popular than when they skipped a few years after the Gen. 1's. I hope the tonka truck appearence doesn't show up in '04. I'm sorry but looking at that, the only thing it looks like is SLOW. You can't call it a Lightning and have it look like a big *** block truck. Come on Ford! Just say no to the whole tonka truck idea. A fast vehicle should look fast. It needs to be sleek and aerodynamic.

Whoa sorry J15, you don't have to be a smart *** towards people. J/K really though I love the L and I don't want to see it become a tank. Or at least start looking like a heavy duty pickup.

Twins

Hello,

I don't want to sound like a troll but here it goes.

The aftermarket is always chasing the heels of the King trucks, the Lightning.

I think, this puts Dodge one step closer with the near completion of a twin TC kit for Magnum engines.

Here are a few pics.

and the lastest news...
"Update 07/11/02 (R/T-2 IS ALIVE!!)

After a few months of working on this project (and many delays from either machining, builder, or suppliers)...R/T-2 took it's first breath of air today. It fired right up, turbo's spooled up as well, and the oiling system works. With a few minor adjustments (and oil seepage fixes)...R/T-2 is a few days away from taking the new-found power to the street (and Dyno). "

I really hope Ford spices things up in the near future with the SVT line, namely the Lightning. The Gen I to Gen II Lightings was a huge step up, seeing a new generation would be nice.

Twin SC?,, oooh that would be oh so good.

Hopefully one day, the "fuglies" as ya'll put it will catch your heels.

happy racing!

Re: Twins

For newbies or those with short memories:

If one guy can do it (with help from Sal and others), then Ford could copy it.
