Angry Problems with JDM promises

3 weeks ago I ordered a Silver bullet exhaust from JDM. They put me on hold to check to see if there were any in stock.(calling long distance) This was on a Monday, and they said it would be leaving there the next morning and I should have it by Thursday. On Friday about 4 pm I called them to see where my exhaust was. I was told that they were having problems and it wouldn't be shipped out until the following monday. (It was in stock, Hmmm) So, I asked if it would for sure be sent out on Monday, and they guaranteed that it surely would. So, on that Monday that it was supposed to be shipped to me I received a call from JDM and talked with a young lady, she proceeded to tell me that my exhaust system wouldn't be shipped out for at least another week. I told her the above, and she said she would check around to see who promised me that it was to be shipped that day. I told her that if it wasn't shipped out that day or the next morning then I wanted to cancel my order. I figured they would have the common courtesy to call me back and keep me informed since they charged my account on the day I first placed my order. Well, needless to say, I had to call them up again on Thursday and ask them what's up. They told me they couldn't ship me an exhaust system until the next Monday. I told them that with all the problems I have had and if it wasn't already shipped out on the previous Monday or Tuesday like I told the young lady, then I wanted to cancel. I was told I would be given a full refund. They gave me no apologies or nothing. I personally think they suck and I hope some of you if not all of you will shop elsewhere. Thanks for taking the time to read this. James L Turner Southgate, Michigan.

Unhappy

James: Sorry you had that trouble. My JDM c/b was delayed too by about 2 weeks if I remember(alszheimer alert ) correctly. I fussed too but decided to wait and now I'm glad I did. It's a truly well-made, outstanding, and beautiful system. It went on with ease and sounds 'just right' for my tired, old ears.

Good luck in what ever you end up getting.

Dan

You guys need to relax, if you cancel you will really be pissed when you see and hear one. I agree they should be up front and honest with you but you really should cut them some slack they are not looking to rip people off. JDM has the silver bullet systems custum make to his specs so when his stock runs out its not like he can just make them appear. Trust me you really should wait for this system. I have the Bassani on my truck, only because the silver bullet did not exist at the time. The sound and quality is every bit as good as the bassani for like hundreds less.

Since I joined almost one month ago, I have seen several "XXX Tuner did not send the part as promised". I do not understand the logic here. What I see are promises being made from the seller, then broken, and very little to no communication unless the customer calls up and inquires. It really isn't that difficult to tell the buyer UP FRONT that there is XXX delay on the product and you will call/email a tracking number when the item has shipped. Instead of blantly lying, try telling some truth and BOTH sides will benefit. Nothing ticks me off more than getting charged as soon as an order is placed, and weeks later I am the one doing a followup to find out WTH is going on. Then you get the ole "I am not sure who told you that it was going to ship" and there are only a handful or workers in the office.

I know most, if not all, of the tuners are small businesses and trying to do the best they can. However, there is always room for improvement, and if it means hiring another inexpensive person to handle emails/phone calls you will benefit from a happy customer instead of pissing a handful of them off and losing sales.

Exclamation Chill out !!!

Yo FatFord, you really need to chill out and give people a break. There are many other people out there who have waited for parts, for longer periods of time than you have stated, and have been much more tolerant of delivery status. If you can't wait for quality parts, make them yourself or stop whinning about it! I've spent about 8 grand @ JDM and have been very satisfied with their parts and service. I also know , Rome wasn't built in a day, John H.

Your not the first and you wont likely be the last. This is my first time posting in a complaint thread . I feel your pain brother. Seems that a lot of people have experienced the same lousy customer service as you. Lying is unacceptable!!! I placed an order with another vendor first week in June... Nothing has showed up on my porch yet... I haven't called or e-mailed yet... so no excuses are to be had... I want the best ...so I am willing to wait... JUST DON'T LIE TO US!!!!

Maybe it would have been better to say, no we do not have one in stock but in 2 weeks or so we will have them, would you like to order one (backorder?) and we will charge you card when it's shipped? and maybe throw in a phone call (quick e-mail?)? The moderator here is suppose to give JDM some help in that department. JDM got the skills and parts people want, and customers will wait if told up front. Customer service like this does work. Jim needs to crack the whip up at the front desks, hehehe. But maybe JDM doesn't sweat it and has plenty of business not to worry about things like this at the moment. Maybe Jim will chime in on this since he's a supporting vendor, unless it gets closed.

Wink

I was there from last Thursday to Monday, They really do mean well and try to get the product out as they promise. Those Silver bullit system are going like hot cakes and they do build them in house. I watched Friday and then Monday as they were trying to get all the kits that were promised out, I know they ran into welding problems and had to send their welder out to be repaired. You guys do have reason to Bitch, but just try to be a little more patient and when you get your parts that you ordered you will be very happy. They really are trying to keep up with the orders, and doing their best to get them out on time, just give them a little break...

Phatford, I agree - it's pretty pitiful. The only thing that will cure this situation is competition. And since "most" of the other tuners also have no clue regarding how to treat a customer - they are not hard-pressed to do much better. JDM apparently has a good product and doesn't particularly care whether you bitch about not getting it in a timely manner. He will try to lock you and others in when you call to order by charging your card. Sure, he will come on here occassionaly to put out the big fires but in the end he figures that charging your card right away will keep you invested in the inevitable "waiting period". There is no other way to explain what they are doing. It's called greed and unprofessionalism. Maybe a few of the rednecks/JDM apologists around here don't mind but there are some adults that aren't willing to put up with it - no matter what they offer or make.

I suggest if you are looking for an exhaust, do some looking around up there. I was able to get a custom mandrel bent turbo back exhaust for the WRX I owned for a lot less than buying aftermarket. Mandrel bending is not easy to find. There are only two places in Florida that I know of. A cat back or header back exhaust will not be difficult for a competent shop. It doesn't have to be mandrel bent but that is good if you can find it. Headers are another story. Yes, you may have to look around and you may have to drive - but you won't have to put up with or continue to support poor trade practices from unscrupulous vendors. I will never own anything from several vendors just because of what I have seen.

Good luck.

Jim

Thumbs down SPANKY

I'm so tired of your same OLD story. When any lightning owner chooses to mod their truck for whatever reason, then the responsibility falls on them.....no matter what the problem. I think you should work the issue out privately, and hold you tounge/keyboard, remember there is no warrenty from any tuner that everything will be fine for the life of your truck no matter what the mod is. If JDM chooses to help you out then so be it. But until anything changes, be a stand up guy and take some responsibility... running your truck as long and as hard as you did after realizing that it was not at peak performance is just foolish.....and you need to take some responsibility.

Stop the crying!!!

Kevin
