No flame intended James. Especially for a fellow Southgate L owner. Everytime I read a thread like this, I can't help but think of the character Veruca Salt from "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory". Her favorite saying, "I don't care how, I want it now".

I've been guilty of this as syndrome as well when I ordered from one of the vendors. It's a product of our world. No longer do you have to wait 6-8 weeks for an order. Next day shipping is the defacto standard anymore. If we don't receive that, we tend to get mad. Someone said in a thread similar to this a while back, all the vendors should just say 3-4 weeks shipping. Then, if you get it before then, consider it a bonus. If you want it faster, pay for it. It's that easy.

So James, as the proverb says, "Good things come to those that wait". Good luck with whatever you decide. If you do get the Silver Bullit, look for my truck on Northline, by the Marathon gas station across from Subi's. I'd love to hear the exhaust.

Bob, the issue is not the wait, the issue is no follow through on promises made. And that is something that puts a sour taste in everyone's mouth. The key issue here is that promises are made and not kept - as a matter of business practice apparently. Based on your post, I'm not sure you understand that is the main thing here.

Jim, you're right. I read this note earlier this night and forgot about the part about him ordering it three weeks ago. When he called back on the Friday, he should've just asked for Jim. I'm sure they could've come to an agreement then.

I still think my observations though speak the truth about a lot of ranting on these boards. We're such a instant gratification society that having to wait for something anymore just gets under our skin. Like I said, I even felt it when i didn't get confirmation of my order in a timely manner. Sometimes we need to just take a step back and look at the more important things in life (family/friends).

I've never ordered anything from jdm, and I realized that sometimes there are problems, but when this happens it's their responsability to try to make things right. I ordered some recaro seats and needed them in by 6/22 for a trip. The dealer called the factory and was told this woudn't be a problem. On 6/15 when the dealer got a call from recaro saying the seats wouldn't be in the dealer called my to inform me, offered to put set of recaros he had in stock in my truck for my trip, and replace them with mine when they came in. That is customer service. That is what being a small business is about. I own 2 restaurants, and believe me I know things can go wrong, but I will not let a customer leave unhappy. Every single customer is vital to business, the name of the game is REPEAT CUSTOMERS. I think that is what this thread is about, not the quality of his goods,or the amount of time any of us would be will to wait for them.

I have been on this forum for about 6 months, and I don't post very often, but I do read anything that peaks my interest. And I guess any time someone has a problem, I'm interested.
These posts are always the same, user x, oredered product y, from tuner/vendor z, and isnt happy with the time or product for some reason. Then user a, b, and c agree with user x about said problem. And sponsored or heavily modded user q chimes in about what a great company it is, and how we need to lay off.

Unfortunetly we don't all have $5000 to drop on our truck at once, but we should get the same service as those who do. In my profession, the customer on the phone is more important than the one standing in front of you. We understand they are running a business and need to test and tune new products. And its not just one tuner, its all of them, we all deal with different ones, with different success and we all hear complaints about all of them. I have only dealt with one tuner, and I am happy with my small purchase, but I hope I am just as important a customer as one who had a motor built. If you have a problem with a tuner, and cant get it resolved, there are other options, a couple of other major tuners, and ideas for custom set-ups.

I am sorry for the rant, and long post, but this is getting out of control. Just a mood I'm in tonight...now I need a beer.

3 weeks ago I ordered a Silver bullet exhaust from JDM. They put me on hold to check to see if there were any in stock.(calling long distance) This was on a Monday, and they said it would be leaving there the next morning and I should have it by Thursday. On Friday about 4 pm I called them to see where my exhaust was. I was told that they were having problems and it wouldn't be shipped out until the following monday. (It was in stock, Hmmm) So, I asked if it would for sure be sent out on Monday, and they guaranteed that it surely would. So, on that Monday that it was supposed to be shipped to me I received a call from JDM and talked with a young lady, she proceeded to tell me that my exhaust system wouldn't be shipped out for at least another week. I told her the above, and she said she would check around to see who promised me that it was to be shipped that day. I told her that if it wasn't shipped out that day or the next morning then I wanted to cancel my order. I figured they would have the common courtesy to call me back and keep me informed since they charged my account on the day I first placed my order. Well, needless to say, I had to call them up again on Thursday and ask them what's up. They told me they couldn't ship me an exhaust system until the next Monday. I told them that with all the problems I have had and if it wasn't already shipped out on the previous Monday or Tuesday like I told the young lady, then I wanted to cancel. I was told I would be given a full refund. They gave me no apologies or nothing. I personally think they suck and I hope some of you if not all of you will shop elsewhere. Thanks for taking the time to read this. James L Turner Southgate, Michigan.

And even though this happens from him all the time, people still order from him.... or something.

Since the bulk of these posts pertain to catback exhaust systems and the inability of consumers to get them from some of the major suppliers, I offer this........

I bought a MAC catback system that came complete with muffler, clamps, hangers and LARGE chrome plated tips for $297.00. It was delivered to my door within five business days, installed in two hours, and sounds absolutely awesome.

The seat-of-the-pants meter indicates only a slight increase in low end throttle response, but the smiles-per-mile gauge is at an all-time high.

If anyone else is interested, email Don Walker at......drwalker@nc.prestige.net

my only gripe, if that many tuners,, are all three weeks backed up, then where is all the money/competition, I understand its a limited market, but its definately a good market if parts are that backed up,, i'm sure its a big headache as well though, i know this first hand from running a store,,, never ever ever are things as easy as you think they'd be.

It'd be nice for tuners to have "blowout" sales, like tell everyone they are overstocked and everything must go, you know, competition,,, seems like there's enough demand, and i'm sure enough headache on both the tuners part and the consumer.

Cool litnfast...

No flame taken here, I only joined in because there are some people that jump in on a complaint thread on every board, and on any chance they can to take more jabs at their now ex-tuner. Spanky has done this numerous times and will probably continue to do so.

As far as the original post goes, I understand that not every person will be happy with which ever tuner they choose to do business with. People with a credit card want things two days ago! I am one of them. There are things that I wanted right away for my truck.... and in hind sight it was well worth the wait! I can only hope that these customer service issues that go on in every business will continue to get better.
