What to do with the gas cap when getting gas?
I'm the furthest thing from **** retentive about my L (notice the screen name) and it bugged the crap out of me too that the stupid thing was scratching my truck.
Solution: cut the stupid thing off and lay the cap on the bed rail. If someone won't give me full price when I sell my truck because that cord is cut I wouldn't sell it to the jerk anyway.

Just be happy you guys don't live in jersey. Your not allowed to pump your own gas. You get to have some (insert arab racial remark here because they are the only ones who seem to do this job here) do it for you, and put a nice long scratch down the fender to open the gas cap cover, then open the cap and just drop it so it hits against the paint.
At least with the number of coats of LG that i have on the truck, i can usually buff it out, but they don't give a damn and do it every time. Jersey sucks
LoL
And this thread isn't too weird. If we pay 35 grand for a truck, why wouldn't we want to take 2 seconds and take a small step like cutting the cord if that can reduce the risk of any new scratchs on the paint

I forget the cap at the station when Its not attached... sounds dumb but I have done it before with my old bronco. I even did it once when I stole gas (I was 15
)..I left it and had to take my buddys car back there to get it so I wouldnt get caught. But yeah, this thread is strange....

*GASP*
I leave mine just dangling on the side while I fill up. I havn't seen any scratch marks, and as long as I continue to not see any, i'll continue to just dangle it and not worry about it. There are way too many other things in my life to worry about rather than that.
