SHO question for Sal.
SHO question for Sal.
Sal,
I have researched a NO start,No spark problem with My 95 5-speed SHO.
Sadly I still have a No start, No spark SHO. I tested the DIS module and it indicated a ICM on pin #12. This is the info to the ecm for misfires. I replaced the module with a Motorcraft. I replaced the Cam position sensor. I have some resistance in the secondary ignition circuit(wires). They seem ok. I have continuity in the coils. I pulled the codes and get a 111 and 111 in memory as well. This is a system pass. No indication of any problem.
I know that a faulty crank sensor on these is a sure No start. I have 162000 miles on this car. Is there any way I can test this sensor without pulling it. It"s a good bit of work. I`ll do it but would like to be sure it is the crank sensor.
Will a bad Crank sensor give a constant reference voltage of 5 volts or will it be an open circuit? Are the wires that cross behind the DIS module ,on the inside of the front manifold crossover, the pigtail for the crank sensor?
Guy's I know this is the Lightning Forum but I have researched this and come up empty handed..In my case maybe empty headed......
I know you have a SHO Sal. Thanks if you can comment.

Jeff, I'd put money on that crank sensor. It's a classic SHO no start problem. With your milage, I'd almost guarantee it.
It is not fun task either. It's going to cost you some $$ to replace it. If I remember correctly, the water pump and timing belts have to come off to change it as well. But with your milage, it would be a good time to change those anyway. Plan to spend some bucks, but you'll gain some piece of mind in maintenance, since you'll be replacing three key parts that fail on the SHO.
BTW, if anyone wants a 91 SHO Plus (rare model, 1 of about 2000) let me know, mine is for sale

Cool Dan, you'd love it. It's fast as heck, and SHOs make sweet auto-cross cars. E-mail me when you get home, and I'll get you some pics and stuff. I hate to get rid of it, but Lisa won't drive a stick, so it doesn't get used much anymore.
Dan and Ed, I snapped some pics of the SHO today. Let me know if either of you guys are still interested. Thanks

Miss my SHO
I owned a '90 SHO for 10 years and loved it. Finally gave it to my brother (and sold my Syclone) when I bought my '99 L. A great (if high maintance) car.
Most fun was driving it at Atlanta Motor Speedway (on the oval and autocross track) during a day-long Skip Barber school sponsored by Ford at one of the early SHO Registry conventions.
Sal, all yours needs is the police option grill. Great lookin' Plus!
