A friend of mine had a 98 Z that ran 12.85 at 110.5 with a lid, no tires. Admittedly the weather was perfect, but that's pretty damn fast. Its also a feat his 2001 has never matched (despite the supposed 15 hp increase). The 2001 was a replacement for the 98 bought back on the lemon law!!

I am amazed at the volume of posts that are just bickering whose is fastest, blah, blah, blah... You want to know whose fastest, whoever spends the most money!!

Buy what you want, mod the hell out of it, and be proud that you spent a lot money on you vehicle. Then don't get your panties in a wad when you happen to meet someone that spent more than you at the stoplight.

You didn't get that from my family album did you? My Dad used to work at the GM plant. Looks kinda like him.

 

In no way am i defending the LS1, but the guy may be saying the truth about 13 flat. My Firehawk ran a 12.92 completely stock and no slicks. Although my Lightning is still beating it. . You do however have to be a good driver.

No Lightning will run 13 flat in the quater that is stock.
Most LS1'S are running 13.50-13.20 bone stock. I have seen a few factory freaks run 12.97 on street tires with only a Lid. I think the lightning is a awsome truck hands down. I was going to buy a new lightning but decided to get the LS1 instead. In my opinion the only thing ford has that is in the performance field is the lightning. Mustangs were something with the old 5.0 motor but they ruined the mustang with the 4.6 It's pretty sad they had to supercharge the Cobra to make it fast. The is no substitute for Cubic Inches!
